I signed a relocation bonus contract about 10 months ago. It is a year contract. I’m hoping to get laid off so I’m off the hook for it. Anything else I can do? I want out of GAC now after seeing this mess.

@11nTAYOe-zgt, I mistakenly called it a relocation bonus. It is actually a signing bonus (not sure if it's different or not). Anyways, the contract doesn't mention anything about the bonus being prorated if you elect to terminate your employment. In fact, it says the entire bonus is due if you leave within a year.
The relocation allowance would be prorated if terminated early. Companies would typically deduct balance from final paycheck. If you still owed more, they typically won’t pursue it do to cost and these contacts don’t always hold up in court very well. However, it would be taken into consideration if you were to ever apply for a position in the future
Go month to month. Yes it’s more expansive but you are free to leave. That’s what I did.
Yeah, I just don’t want to sign another lease on my apartment
Hmm... Maybe you could work until your year contract is up?
