The company can spin all they want but what happened was clearly a vote of no confidence in the existing leadership team. Sadly, they're right.

Looks like most of TB’s executives are young. By riverbed standards, they’re inexperienced, cannot make critical decisions, are not leaders and do not possess the inherent wisdom and vision like our elder riverbed team (not!).

That's right. the new CIO or 'Chief Digital Officer' is also an 'operating partner' at TB...
Cleaning upper mgmt is what riverbed needs. Too many under performing executives across the board, including the many recently promoted. A part of me feels the unwarranted promotions is in lieu of then getting canned but I’d wish everyone was promoted
Guess you still can’t see the writing on the wall? Clean up starts from the top. First a TB CFO, now a TB CEO, and TB CDO. I feel sorry for those under the CDO because that means that area is under extra scrutiny. BuhBi budget and perhaps under performers. A little bird told me a new TB CIO is also in the works. If you look at Apptus, where DM was interim CEO, he cleaned house of most C-levels. I’m sure TB has plenty of people that want your jobs, it’s only a matter of time.
Looks like some new developments are going to happen
Imo don’t think there’s any Director+ that Can actually do the work if their BU. Some field/first line managers can but not all for sure. The last group are people who’s jobs are to literally program manage other teams.
Good call in the CDO, why on God’s green earth does riverbed need a CDO?
Don't forget we have a new CDO too! VP's in this place becoming front-line Managers!
COO will be useless and the last thing riverbed needs. Broke support, did not create customer success and handed out titles to his buddies. He had no reason ever being hired in for his first role. This second role is for him to mess more things up across the company - he’s a sabateur.
The new COO has two C-titles. He must be getting paid a lot and doing a lot of work everyday. Lot of weight on his shoulders.
What about the new 'COO'?
Of course he did. A few of our leaders hand picked by him waiting for parachutes too. The Inferno applying for CEO job has to be an absolute joke. What did he accomplish? Did he turn the quality issues around? Build anything innovative? He’s a talker not a builder. He’s waiting for parachute too.
Did he get a golden parachute?
Remember the Gates of Opportunity presentation?
I make 1000 x more than you! S—ers still working here hahahahaha.
Heard Dm trying for the job.
I hope PM takes his Chally test with him. It really helped him hire rock star sales talent.
Maybe nobody who was any better wanted the job?
PM had falling sales figures while he was there...what make the investors think he could do better at CEO? Rather ironic, to reward failure and then wonder why there's more failure.
DM is good for one thing. More cuts.
These thread deletions s—. I am forced to check the site more frequently to avoid missing the updates. Wish there was a mechanism to get notified. Why don’t we move to blind?
Just for kicks I checked out TL’s for Riverbed and sheesh things don’t seem good. Well, was an SE for riverbed a long time ago and I see the old SE regime is still there. My advice is, after working a couple different gigs, SE leadership is a lot more dynamic and is tied to the hip with sales, and thinking about Riverbed, all I can say “it’s different”. Hopefully you’ll get some fresh blood in there, great people can change things around, I know this worked for me.
Riverbed has to boot all the old management, they’re not leaders, they’re most likely collecting checks. You know, the ones that hide behind salesforce, say nothing in meetings, Solutions to everything is a training activity, posses old knowledge that’s well known, cannot grasp new topics and can only say “lead” but not know how to actually do that correctly.
Hopefully the new interim CEO reads these forums. The baby boomers just need to step down and retire.
how did the walkout go?
Found some guidelines here https://www.thelayoff.com/h/deletions
Mods here don’t care if the truth hurts or not, all they care about is you following the rules they set. Name calling and naming names are not allowed here.
That thread and another one were deleted last night. The truth is hard to accept.
What happened to the 'Bring Jerry Back' thread?
Yeet it or delete it!
All the brown nosers gonna come out from under their rocks and deprecated 90’s management crew are gonna whip out their millennial dictionary and pretend to be hip.
I think we r safe for the next 6 months while new TB cookie figures out who does what.
Guys jump the board. Why wouldn't you when CEO itselft chose a better path. Don't keep working at this body shop and regret later. There is no upside for us no matter what anyone tells. We are well into 6th year since acquisition. Interest on loan and class-A shares keeps increasing each passing day. Hoping for big bump on your class-B shares is a mirage. This is still a good job market until recession kicks in next year. Polish your resume, prove your worth and get rewarded elsewhere before its too late.
The right move - if only they'd made it the day Jerry left.
I hope TB brings in a technology-centric CEO. We don’t need another deprecated leader who still lives in the 90’s, we have enough of those still meandering the halls of Riverbed.
Only if this is just the beginning and not the end.
