Our entire industry is in shambles. Just check out pages of some of our competitors here, the same thing that's happening to us is happening to them as well. Which has me worried about job prospects for those of us who are about to be laid off. Where exactly should we go from here?

I've been looking for 24 months now. Had a half dozen interviews. Contacted by at least 6 head hunters. Flew out to Palmdale, CA and Fort Worth, TX for interviews. Came down to the money. Nobody can match GAC pay scale for Sr Engineers. Might need to take a $30-50K pay cut to avoid being unemployed.
Try going to Lockheed Martin in Orlando, Ocala or Fort Worth. Everything is booming and a hiring frenzy for top talent. Start applying now to get ahead of everything if you can. Layoffs s—, disruptive and drain you but it is not always the end but an opening to a new beginning. You need to prep your resume asap and hit the streets with a plan to land an even better opportunity with your skill set.
Seriously? Since I activated my resume on just 2 job boards, I've had at least 3 calls every day! Boeing is having somewhat of a hiring spree (weird considering their current troubles) in Huntsville, Washington, and OKC, LMAC is hiring, There are jobs with embraer if you are willing to go to florida, and there are defense related jobs in CA if you have a clearance. Spirit, SpaceX, and Triumph are hiring direct, too. Post your resume and you will get hits. Obviously none are in Savannah, but that should be kind of obvious.
Private industry is cyclical. The Aerospace industry has historically been on the higher end. Brush up your resume' and start looking even if you haven't been let go yet. It's just the prudent thing to do. I hope everyone let go will find either something suitable or better quickly. Keep your head down and stay focused on your job, and do it the best you can while we wait for more word to come down. When one door closes two open up. You just have to have your eyes open to see the opportunity. Best wishes to all.
