What they won’t answer about accruals

With the new PTO policy, you can never actually use the time you are eligible for. The only way to earn enough PTO in their new plan is to work a bunch of overtime. A person 1-5 years of service has to work 16.25 hours to earn 1 hour of PTO.

Which is one thing until you think about this... if you take a week of vacation then you will not be accruing time while on vacation so that means you will lose out on accruing almost 3 days of PTO. They will not let you accrue time for anything that is not physically at the park on the clock time.

Then they preach about being able to rollover.. well you are not allowed to use more than “the bucket eligible “ so if you rollover you are just having it available at the beginning of the year. In which because it accrues until Dec. 31st everyone will have time being rolled over every year whether you want it to or not.

When people complain in meetings about it the senior leaders basically tell you if you don’t like it to find another job. We are just a number. That’s it. They will replace you for cheaper and move on. Make sure you know that.

I'll remember this every time I'm asked to volunteer to go home early, every time I'm asked to stay late, every time I'm asked to do something outside of my job responsibilities or to help leaders do their job. I'll also remember this every time I receive a call or text on my personal phone for anything related to work and you best bet that I will not respond until my next scheduled shift. I busted my rear end for more than 2 decades missing holidays with family because I "had to be" at a theme park, going above and beyond for guests and never being recognized, taking on more and more work with every layoff, abs being lied to that we were getting a merit pay increase only to be screwed out of that because I was at the top of my pay rate and no one would answer my questions about my pay rate to see it for myself.

To anonymous quitting on Friday, you should do so at the meeting being held at sea fire grill at 8:30am. It might inspire others to speak out louder. Wish you the best! We’re not too far behind you.

RE: My Husband person -

We understand that compared to other companies we have had more time off than others. I certainly got more when I started here vs my last job. It is perfectly OK for a company to not want to give us weeks and weeks of time off.

Our issue is the fact that we were told we were getting a certain amount of time off, some of us have it in writing from AB days that they should have X amount and now that is being taken away.

Personally, if they want to change the time off policy change it for the new people. If you get hired in today change the rules for them. Would not bother me at all and if I was hired today under that policy I would understand and accept that. However screwing with those of us that have been here 5+ years, let alone everyone 10/15/20+ and earned their time off with their work and loyalty, that is why we are p-ss-d. In addition the salaried can take all the time they want (even though some try to say "Oh it will be monitored!") but we know the favorites and the execs will do what they want. This is just another way they are screwing over their longer time staff to get us to quit without having to lay more people off or at the very least if people do not take that bait then they don't cost as much.

My husband, who doesn't work for the company, works 80 hours and only gets 1.85 of accrued PTO. That's with 2 years of service. Honestly, if my math is correct, seas provides a better PTO plan than his. Albeit, it still s—s.

If my math is right you actually only lose out on almost 3 hours if you take a weeks vacation. Either way it s—s. In order to hit your max vacation you are forced to work overtime. Right around 5 hours per week. The 401k really s—s too. All these benefits which we are told is part of our salary are getting cut. When asked if our pay scale will get inline with our competitors all we get is a we are looking into it and told that we are not Disney or Universal so they have to do what they can do financially. Total B.S. Forgive me if my math is wrong.

I think we move forward with the earlier plan of massive call ins on weekends. During this time of year until Christmas Week, weekends are so important for revenue. Have a few weekends where the ball drops in lots of areas in the park and it would be a huge problem. They bite us, we bite back! Only way things will change is if attendance and revenue is impacted. Listen to the Investor Calls, they said SEA is still on target to hit its 2020 EBITDA target, at the top end of the range. Even if the parks do great, non of it will trickledown to the hourly employees. Its all about The Board and a few top guys who get rich.
