Thread regarding DXC Technology layoffs

The "Digital Future" is a catch phrase right now. No one really knows what it means

Why sell that parts of the business that are profitable? That's not logical even considering DXC long term goals.... What they are doing is dumping the stuff that is not be profitable. They are talking up the value of these divisions as I type this preferably looking for a s—er to take them off their hands. Then they will strip off any monetary value before dumping them... This is exactly what they did with the sale of Paxus in Aus. Thing is though it wont work. The "Digital future" is a catch phrase right now. No one really know what it means. The same thing happened when CSC was going to become a cloud specialist company. Almost the same strategy with some redundancies and they planned to break off parts of the company but it never happened. Then came more redundancies and then the merger. Looking back it was bleak but I never thought it would end like this. At the end of all of this you'll have a comparatively small CSC in the US only and DXC, HP & EDS etc. will be gone forever. Replaced with much smaller specialist IT outsourcing and support companies. These new companies will be very different to the leviathans of the past. Most staff will work from home and only travel when absolutely needed. The "Digital future" will be dominated by the remaining big players. DXC wont be part of that.

Digital Transformation is a joke. CSC and HPES merged 2 years, 7 months, 17 days ago and still we run as two companies with systems that don't play well together.

Sorry, "digital" to me sounds like the new idea of using a computer rather than ink and paper. So I'm not impressed when I hear it. I suspect much of the general public has a similar reaction. Or maybe it means spelled out in numerals instead of rotating hands and needles on a dial? How futuristic! My doctor's office went through a digital transformation, but it's been years since then. We need a new word.

It’s not time sharing it’s processs improvement with computers , which we were doing in the 70’s ! Digital is a marketing term !

DXC can't even standardise it's internal employment serviceS, legacy HPE c-ap and L CSC c-ap. Why not teplace all with news and improved processes and systems ?

Hell time reporting a s still two different systems and one code from one company doesn’t work with the other. Bull sh–

@3tui: "Why waste millions of dollars creating something that started to fail on day one?"

To satisfy ML's ego.

The laws of physics and laws of business aren't too dissimilar: If I take a huge black hole and merge it with another huge black hole, let's lights and sparks and all manner of radiation pouring out for a while, but eventually things settle down and you have an even bigger black hole.

Look at all the people who did well out of this merger, and compare the to all the people who got shafted. Your answer lies there. Alternatively, take Mark Felt's advice: "Follow the money".

It all leads back to ML and his giant need to have his ego looked after.

The fact is people soon forget how DXC got here. The merging of two failing IT support companies created a much larger one that was never going to work. A lot of people saw this coming but there was no stopping these id–ts. Now they're talking about breaking off large parts of the company... So why even do the merger in the first place? There is no logic here. Why waste millions of dollars creating something that started to fail on day one? The share price was through the roof and soon plummeted to what it is today. How much money was lost by investors and how many legal firms are now trying to readdress that? What a debacle. If anyone thinks they can create value after dropping three major "supposedly profitable" divisions is kidding themselves. Meanwhile the digital future marches ahead and DXC can't even standardise it's internal employment services. If anyone doubts that, try getting a payroll or HR issue resolved using the India team portal! Good luck with that...

"dumping the stuff that is not be profitable" who would want to buy something that is not be profitable? Just cancel the program and MOVE ON!

Most staff will work from home and only travel when absolutely needed, it's part fu-king time, Transformation centers aren't digital, Digital is working remotely and it doesn't cost the company a thing, no network, no desks , no lighting, no HAVAC and really they don't even have to supply computers anymore as every one has at least one anyway

The problem is that the "digital future" looks awfully like the old timesharing model from the 1950's, tarted up with fresh paint and oh-so-cool logos.
