Thread regarding Union Pacific Corp. layoffs

"Union Pacific values safety above all else, and our employees understand we will not sacrifice the well-being of our team for productivity. "

Lol wut? I love this quote. Who are these mysterious employees that understand that? They exist only in the mind of the UP spokesman. The UP PR machine working on overdrive. I guess if you can't get your ceo rating above 11% or the company rating above 19%, you can always hire a good PR guy to just make stuff up. How many beers and laughs did it take before they came up with that? Do you think as he was typing it he was laughing so hard and shaking so uncontrollably he had to take a break and come back later? We should start releasing our own statements to the press. "The UP leadership understands and appreciates that people have no faith in their judgement or morals and that nothing they say can be believed."

You’re assuming that there are the same number of injuries which probably won’t be the case.

Less employees = less man hours which equates to a higher pi rate.

There have been two fatalities this year, both a couple of weeks apart.

H186, safety is a way of the the past. And with a skeleton crew we cut every corner we can trying to keep our heads above water. As more and more cuts are made in Kansas City more work pores our way, What a joke, Hindsight is 2020

They were running around saying there is no such thing as accidents for a few years ago. But honestly is anyone surprised they’d spout off that line of bs especially after they’ve had 5 deaths and countless injuries system wide because if you are then you’re delusional. They even did a safety stand down and blamed everyone but themselves for the deaths. They’ll run their employees into the ground just to hit that first os even if it means dragging it out and dropping it in a siding. Efficiency and Production first and maybe if it doesn’t get in the way sprinkle a bit of safety in there unless they can fire someone for working unsafe then safety comes back into prominence.
