Thread regarding Windstream Corp. layoffs

Quarterly earnings report

Here's a link to the transcript of the earnings discussion by management

I'm interested in specific comments about management's claims (beyond generic comments about mo–ns and crooks).

I would venture they’re counting res customers who drop dial tone to migrate to a internet only which generates new tenure and account number as new.

In other words, more smoke and mirrors.

When they renew customers or do a cost savings migration to a new CFA they are counting that as a new turnup. I work in a major city in the northeast and we have no new activations. All our work is cost savings migrations to new CFAs trying to cut costs

I’m near certain I’m aware of what they are counting, and they definitely are not “new” customers.

From the press release, ". The company has added approximately 19,000 new broadband subscribers year-to-date, a 126 percent increase year-over-year."

Despite this, revenue continues to drop quarter after quarter. Seems like promotional customers and that is simply not sustainable. Revenue down across all segments. Stupid OIBDAR metric down. Negative free cash flow, yeah pretty much what you would expect from a terribly run company.

Overall our revenue is decreasing. I'm not a finance person, but I don't think that's a good thing. They either have to sell more product or remove more expenses to stay afloat.

Most of those new broadband subscribers they're bragging about probably signed up for the free trial.
