Last dying breath

So those of us who are not on the list to close and have watched the kmart and sears slow death throes, will witness it's last dying breath.

Not going to look for it, but there was the post about the Kmarts being decimated that many folks questioned and down voted. Turns out that person was correct. The timelines may have been off by a few weeks but essentially correct.

I don't know if it was insider knowledge or just a reasonable prediction but here we are.

When you only have 182 stores left, and they're not regional, you're not going to make it. Factor in that the number consists of 60 Kmart's and 122 Sears stores, and that means they're even thinner than that. This whole thing will blow up in early-2020 after a wretched holiday season. Expect the Kmart brand in the US to live its final time between March and May (if it even makes it that far), while Sears will live on thanks to the smaller format stores that Fast Eddie just purchased. Downvote this all you want, you only do that, because you know it's true.

Sears will be gone for good by summer 2020...maybe earlier

There still may be two phases left. Half of the 182 stores left are leased and the other owned. Will Transformco dump the rest of the leases next? Will any of the remaining stores see Christmas 2020? Maybe. Christmas 2021? No way.

Tick tick goes the clock. Sad but this was all a plan. More Kmarts are being added next week. Pa has 2 confirmed today.

Yeah this closure list in particular is very telling because they pretty much k–led Sears in CA, which I thought it was suppose to be one of the "better" markets. This shows that I'd say 2020 is truly going to be the last year of Kmart and Sears current existence.
