Thread regarding Windstream Corp. layoffs

Enterprise Business layoffs coming by EOY

Huge workforce reduction by EOY. LL is giving the rest of us notice that he’s not done on Thursdays call. Smaller, agile, strategic focus. It’s his way of setting the stage to what WILL happen the next couple of months. Reductions 2-3 more x by EOY will be taking place and hit hard on ALL Enterprise Business Units. AEs, CAs, PMs, Engineers, Directors and VPs .Guess we didn’t sell enough SDWAN or OS.

WIN had another significant layoff today, 11/14. They are letting go a few hundred employees every few weeks.

Anyone have an update of TT management call of what was discussed? Obviously they won’t mention lay offs. Curious. Financial transcript link was posted. I’m interested in hearing what was said to our bosses today

Here's their strategy, more outsourcing, more layoffs, grab all the money.

Offsuite is just about 100% offshored. Developers and engineers are outsourced from India. Repair calls go to the Phillipines.

More layoffs by EOY for sure. Support for Enterprise customers, even with the newer product sets, being offshored. Only onshore support will be for the highest paying customers, customers with extensive multi site networks and MRR over 100k. Offshoring saves money even though the customers tend to hate it. Service delivery restructuring will offshore more tasks as well. Major sales cuts with a renewed focus on channel for sales. More dealers, less Win sales and CAs. Management cuts with subordinate ratios higher. Longer hours on salary to get the job of your laid off peer done too but you best smile thru it lucky to have a job. Ha! The WIN of 2021 will look nothing like it does today. Good luck to all left standing when the dust settles.

Haha WS didn’t buy EarthLink. It was done through stock as a merger. Then WS tanked the stock. Then Ws bought broadview and tanked the stock some more.

WS - the mo–ns up top - decided to hire the GTT VP. GTT has never been good at anything except outsourcing all employees overseas.
This is more writing on the wall. More jobs will be off shored. Just gotta do them in small batches to stay out of the news and trumps x-hairs.

I was informed by a reliable source that more “organizational changes” are coming before EOY. Though they couldn’t say what/how/when.

If we have been "right sizing" the business since 2015 why did we buy ELNK?

@ (o)
I agree with this much debt and legacy TDM network there isn't alot
of a future. Some of the people let go were the ones trying to downsize
that network. Now what are they going to do with it?

Emerging from bankruptcy is not an option right now.

Windstream has been "Right sizing" since 2015, I guess they haven't figured out the right size yet!

I dont see how they are going to restructure the $7-8B in debt in order to come out of ch 11. Banks will own the company and shareholders will just take it in the rear. Employees and customers have been getting back doored for years. Windstream doesnt even have any money left for lube

This was not your typical bankruptcy to get out of debt. We spun the story for customers we were doing chapter 11 because of the judgement. We didn’t want to pay the judgement against us, and extending would have halted business. We were told we were financially in the good, and in the positive. And chose chapter 11 because those 2 options were not viable, and allowed us to restructure debt. And Chapter 11 was not due to bad financials. I have docs that gave us talking points. And meetings were held with tons of customers with senior leadership on the call. Even CFO. Business as usual was the message.

What is the story now? We cut people so we can be agile and more focused? And oops, not business as usual as previously told. But please keep your business and trust with us

How long is Windstream going to be in bankruptcy? How long is normal?

If they want to emerge from bankruptcy then people have to go, not optional. It’s pretty bad they’ve been in bankruptcy for so long with no real opportunity to come out.

They’ve let people go and hired some people. In the end, it’s going to be one big slice new or not. Goodbye management

If anyone thinks that any executives are trying to do anything other than make as much money off of this dog as they can before they have to shoot it, you are fooling yourself.

Last time I heard any reference was when the company was talking about right sizing the company which was a warning about the upcoming slaughter.

Since they’re openly saying Smaller/Agile, I’d fully expect several thousand people to be let go.
