And just like that this supposedly lucrative Government contract becomes a burden for DXC. I work for DXC in South Australia and this news is not good in anyway. We employed a bunch of people and paid them to move to South Australia for this project. With this scaling back I'm sure we'll have to let a lot of them go. Meanwhile they're about to layoff a bunch of ex SA Government IT support people because the clause to not laying them off in the contract expires this month. It's going to be a blood bath locally. You should see our main building on OG road. From the outside it looks like a James Bond's villains head quarters. I expect we'll be moving to a different (cheaper) building very soon.
What bothers me the most about this is we could see it coming and local management did nothing to help the situation. Instead they worked to the contract and continued to "nickle and dim" the customer. Minimal service and minimal cost... Everything was driven by the all mighty bottom line and the interstate leadership couldn't help but get directly involved by deciding who was to be retained and who to let go. I know of three people who were retrenched because of pay level and age. All three were replaced by ex SA Government techs in the 20s.
