Thread regarding Union Pacific Corp. layoffs

Beating a Dead Horse

That is what is going on here. Yes, we get it....nobody likes the company or it's leadership right now. We feel the unions are weak. PSR is a scam to make shareholders rich. Blah blah blah. It is getting so old. Can we please just post relevant information regarding layoffs, furloughs, and job cuts? Enough with the crying and complaining. You're preaching to the choir. This site needs a moderator pretty badly.

Yeah, come on guys, its no big deal, just because your livelihood career is going down the drain in the name of higher profit margins, so all those years you've paid into railroad retirement, and worked on call 24/7/365, and Christmas for straight time, was all for not, just so that the board members can make even more, when they already make more than what the average employee makes in 30 years, in a single month.

Sure, no big deal, starting over at 30, 40, or 50+ years old, when you were told that if you did your job, that you would have a job for life at Union pacific.

Oh sure, the BN is taking all the business that UP is sloughing off because it doesn't pay enough, and their weekly carloadings are over 200k, while UP is just over 154k for week 44, UP has self inflicted a reduction in carloadings below what they were in 2009, during the worst recession since the great depression, and who cares about the 2300 te&y employees furloughed, and the thousands of mechanical employees who have had their jobs eliminated.

Ron Batory says one man, or even autonomous operations are just fine, and trains can be 4 miles long too, blocking public crossings for hours, or even days, with no recourse.

Elections have consequences, and if the lawsuit and contract is pushed through while the current administration is still in office, there won't be anymore train conductors, and UP will be a dead end job with no future, but hey, its all good though, because the stock price is up.

Yeah enough with the complaining we just need positive UP news because there is so much of it. like for instance, I know for a fact that although UP may get rid of people with medical problems such as cancer under the guise of a mass layoff, noone has ever said that UP actually caused the cancer. why aren't we getting any positive coverage about UP not causing cancer. stop beating the dead horse over quality of life, mass layoffs and in general poor ethical standards!

You see it's people like you that need to leave. This site does have a moderator. If you're unhappy with people venting, then YOU are in the wrong place. The other problem is the people who post total BS. The only one who seems to be preaching to the choir is you.
