Thread regarding Mattel Inc. layoffs

Movies?

Does anyone know what's happening with all of the movies Ynot keeps talking about? I think there has been eight movies announced but I can't find anything out about any of them except that there was a press release. No one that I know at Mattel has any information about anything really happening. Are these real? And I just read online that there are over twenty tv shows too. What are these shows? Does anyone know? It all sounds good but I just can't find anyone who can tell me anything that is really happening.

Listen, you don't hire the producer of the Escape Plan trilogy to run your film division is you aren't serious about making a bunch of kick butt movies!

I'm already camped out outside the theater to be first in line to see the Magic 8 Ball movie. Wait, is that Tom Hanks, Amy Shumer and Margo Robbie coming this way? WAY!!! Swoon!

Forget being a flop - a live action Barbie movie has been "in the works" since the 80's. As noted below, it is a popular concept to talk about in front of analysts to prop up the stock price and try to keep Barbie relevant. Just getting released would be a huge accomplishment regardless of its success.

Makes no difference. They will all flop. Barbie will fail spectacularly.

He-man and Barbie have been in development for like ten years and Major Matt Mason was in development with Tom Hanks like ten years ago also. Movies are Mattel's favorite carrot to chase. Wake up everyone.

Read the trades, all in-development at various stages.

Making movies and tv shows takes a long time. Be patient, OP.

They’re all just “Announcements” - nothing more to drive stock prices up or a PR stunt. Budgets have to be set and met prior to a movie to be greenlight. Mattel has no $$ for such movies. Ynon just likes talking like he’s a big hollywood mogul. He’s a CEO of a toy co - not a production co.
