Thread regarding Union Pacific Corp. layoffs

UP Stock

I'm expecting the stock price to continue to rise through year-end, especially in the wake of continued layoffs. As a former employee, I have accumulated a lot of company stock and purchased it via my 401K as well. Anyone care to share their plans for offloading? I'm holding out for another split, and assuming that would be the case once it hits its supposed target of $220.

Please do not resign, make them get rid of you, at least you will retain the right to come back if you wish, you can always accept the callback and be a no show, stick it to them!

Plus you can use some of the money for your lawyer when you get busted for fraud.

Im up bright and early. Getting ready to get out of this stock and 401 k. If any one does not know how to get out the 401k one way is find a realtor write up a contract on any house and file hardship against your 401k. You need the money to purchase a home. Yea you might hit a tax snag but at least you will get the bulk of your money because the plug just came out. Protect yourselves because UP and these execs are protecting themselves. Its time out for the games these people are playing.

Remember that our CFO(Chief Financial Officer) just unloaded a fair amount of shares a little while ago at around $180.

Another idea, sell now near highs , then buy exxon mobil, at near low's, dividend's are twice as good, and much better chance for capital appreciation, in other words sell UNP at retail and buy XOM at wholesale.

Also, the way they have been raising the dividend rate over the past few years will normally help push stock price higher, or at least help put a floor under it when the bottom falls out.

Most of the things that they are doing are damaging to the business long term, but lowering the head count, selling of assets, and share repurchases should all tend to raise stock price for the short term. If it were to hit $180 again I think I will sell. Bought the bulk of mine in the $60's. Politics, economy, and etc. are anyone's guess, better safe than sorry.

And 3 years ago it was in the $80’s. What’s your point?

UNP stock closed at $168 today. Wishful thinking for your $220 goal.

If it begins to drop 5 to 6 dollars let it go. I bought in at 68 a share I sacrified buying a Ford 250 Platinum years back and invested most of it every month. Im not sure of anyone else but I will probably unload it all today or tomorrow. Why because of the impeachment hearings the decision can tumble the stock price or increase it. So I may play it safe and get out. As for this job if im still here by Feb 2020 fine if not Im out, just dont panic but literally take your time and find something else. It may be the same or more or less but we all know this place is on fire. Dont stay here and get burned.

Thank you to those who responded in a genuine way. I’m not a troll, just not that knowledgeable about the stock market. Since I was laid off a few years ago, my UP 401K made as much money as if I was still contributing thanks to the UP units/shares. There are some intelligent people posting on here so I thought I’d get their take since I’m not rich like the Executives who can buy actual advice and offload millions of shares at the right time.

The wheels are about to fall off of this plan as it is....quite literally fall off...

Derailments are up...waaaay up. And soon there will be one that unleashes some nasty stuff and UP won't be able to hide it from the news...and then the questions about how this could happen will arise....and the truth will come out and the stock will drop like a stone.

UNP stock is at $170. Last split was in 2014. It will take years before it goes up to $220.

I'm pretty sure that nobody here cares about what you do with your stock.
