Open Enrollment/COBRA

On the open enrollment site, in my message center (red envelope in upper right corner)... I have a COBRA letter dated 11/15/19. Does everyone have this... I hope...?

@11MHTjMR-2koo State mandate required form letter explaining you are eligible for cobra in the event of change of status or change of life event because I decline coverage is what HR told me. It was auto generated after open enrollment last year. It does not reference you are eligible for a specific reason, just an overview of how you can become eligible.

Since most people who don't take benefits never go back to look at the site but once a year - they'd never know its there and it doesn't archive.

To those who pursued questioning manager or HR about the letter, what did they say to explain? Why would anyone have a COBRA info regardless of date?

No joke this post did cause panic. It made quite a few people, myself included go to either HR or their managers - like I did- for nothing. My bad for not seeing the date but I look like a huge flippin a$$hole. I heard from a friend who was devastated to think this was how she found out and I had a full on panic.

Lesson learned for sure

Looks like you and your manager are getting the boot. HR is this company is a sh!tshow. So many people are hoping to get severance so they can move on. In a meeting today, a colleague shared that she was saved. The people in the room said they were happy for her. She said she would rather have the severance after being treated like sh!t.

Your post has created panick for no reason, how unfortunate the misinformation that runs rampant. Shame on anyone who posts things without being 10-00% certain of the details.

Call HR direct - If your manager is saying he is not aware you are laid off, then the error lies with HR to explain it. If he is saying you are, you should have had a meeting. Get the ticket number from HR, and make sure it coincides with what your manager is telling you. If HR and your manager's info are conflicting, then email your director with your information. The new reach out survey want to know where management is failing, here is a perfect example. Move it up the chain until you get a concrete response, preferably in writing.

That was so c-appy of them to let you all go like this. It's like someone changing their Facebook relationship status to single before breaking up with their Significant Other. UHC is really trash for doing this.

I have the Cobra letter. Spoke to mgr. he is not aware - he says- that i am being let go. If this is not just a mailer; and it doesnt seem to be with not everyone having it- its a super sh–ty way to find out after 15 years.

Nope! However, during first time visit ( a few weeks back) while clicking Rally , I have landed for flash seconds in some Cobra site.

Only option , hopefully few of us has is repent, regret repeat few times and then get up and hit it hard and move on. Life is a beautiful thing, if you know how to handle it with pinch of luck. Age is a factor but as Ronald Reagan said...

If this is your first indication you're laid off, I'm truly sorry. That is the worst possible way to find out. I hope someone is held accountable.

Yes, I have a coworker of mine (at a UHC C&S Plan) who received that same communication yesterday. Her manager's manager said they would have a meeting on Thursday about it.

So, you'd conclude that I'll be given 2 weeks notice on 11/1? Ain't that the sh!t. Any other explanation?
