Thread regarding Mattel Inc. layoffs

Anyone else buying MAT ahead of earnings call?

I've got a good feeling about this, the fact that the call is on a Tuesday instead of the typical Friday suggests they don't feel like they need the weekend market downtime to help quell the price drop that typically happens afterhours after they release the report.

For CEO, I thought we all agreed to hire the recent poster's polite son who owns a successful Subway sandwich shop. Bob Eckert worked out fine and he also had previous food experience from Kraft. I vote for Polite Subway Kid. PSK! PSK! PSK! Unless of course Star Wars Kid is available. SWK! SWK! SWK!

Can anyone link me to anything that suggests the CEO is leaving after his contract is up? One would assume if things were headed in the right direction he would be tapped to stay on and continue in this role, or did he specifically state his intention to leave. I remember a few years ago Sinclair took over on a temporary basis until a suitable replacement was found...

Anyone rejoicing at this stock "reversal" needs a reality check. Both the CFO and CEO are LEAVING. Doesn't that worry you? Of course they will say and do ANYTHING in the next 6 months to please the shareholders and drag the stock up... TEMPORARILY. Pulling sales in, robbing Peter to pay Joe & Ynon, cook those books, whatever it takes! I feel sorry for whoever is left holding the bag after those clowns ride off laughing into the sunset.

Mattel is notorious for pulling sales from Q4 into Q3 and I'm sure this quarter is no different. In the past they have stuffed channels, stuffed the China market, and now their strategy is to quote fake cost savings that will never materialize. The CFO is out and the CEO is in way over his head. The house of cards will fall during the 4th quarter.

Mattel's net income for the 9 months ended September 30: - 543M (2018), - 214M (2019), both losses.

Hasbro's net income over the same period: 211M (2018), 253M (2019). They are still making money and growing.

In addition, Mattel's top line is stagnant. It's hard to make more sales especially after maxing out the cost saving plan.

It is what it is
It’s a smaller company with limited upside. People are tired. The brands are still respected. Life goes on. Think for yourself.

Something's fishy here. OK great, Q3 results were reported good and the stock popped 14%: https://investorplace.com/2019/10/mattel-earnings-bump-mat-stock-up/ But why would the CFO resign after such great news? From that same article:

"The Mattel earnings report also includes information about a CFO transition plan. Joseph Euteneuer, the current CFO of the company, will be leaving following a six-month transition period. The company is currently searching for a replacement CFO."

So Jojo will potentially exit on the heels of Bozo Ynon's departure. Sounds like rats off a stinking ship, leaving others to hold the bag.

If you bought some stock and made a few bucks, good for you, but I wouldn't hold it for very long. We're still hurting and there haven't been any breakthroughs in product or people. Same tired, inexperienced management, and they are apparently gittin' while the gittin's good. Look around you for confirmation, people all over are leaving Mattel faster than HR can hire.

Hasbro just bought Entertainment One for $4 Billion. Disney just bought 21st Century Fox for 71 Billion. No one bothered saving any money to buy out Mattel. If they don't want to buy Mattel, do you?
