Folks: For those who continuously comment on UHG and Optum layoffs, take a look at Humana. They are laying off hundreds of people very soon too, for nearly the exact same reasons. This is the industry we are in, high risk and low reward. Those who work in any area of any insurer, your job is not secure at all. The industry is too dynamic think your job is safe.

High risk low reward? The rewards have been exceptional and the benefits unsurpassed. The benefits are hard to replace as is the pay. Humana doesn't even rate the same line as UHG. They are clever, but the only thing I'll give them is their Medicare national rollout. That bet paid off, but their commercial business is dismal and they need to find a merger. I was hoping either Centene or WellCare, but that never came to be. I had previously hoped for Cigna...but alas. They are very clever people...just didn't have the strategic brilliance of United and were too passive.
