Thread regarding CVS layoffs

Look forward to a great week next week

It’s saturday morning and I get a call from the RD. What is going on with payroll? Within 30 seconds, I realize that we have lost control of our company to people who come from failing companies like Sears and Macy’s! The message was loud and clear. Review the schedules, send people home today, cut hours next week, and hit your number the following week. Fearing for my job just like any other day, I schedule a call with all my store managers and deliver the message. Unfortunately, they get it. Another load of bad news and hating their jobs more.

After the call, I hate myself. We are supposed to be leaders. A leader would stand up and say, “ tell Emmanuel to get his pharmacist’s license or work in the front store for a month or so, or just shut up.” Does the guy realize that there are 1,200+ stores listed as in trouble in the pharmacy? Does he realize that immunization performance is low because our stores are days behind? Does he realize that FS’s are weeks behind on planograms? Does he realize that people making payroll is only second to staffing shortages because people keep quitting? Does he get the BS that is dealt out at the DVP and RD level?

Here is my comment to our great SVP. Don’t send out an email to your reports about payroll that states “this is not good.” Take the five minutes to ask the real question. Is it because every district is horrible or is there a problem with the payroll? Be better!

You people are drinking too much kool-aid. CVS stinks. It's awful to work here. Its a shame as I was once the best place on the planet to work. No one cares about anyone anymore. Only happy people are those trying to get promoted.

Not a DL ! CVS monitors any social media using their name ! Your IP address is easily identified . The owner of this site is affiliated with CVS ! Beware do not post negative remarks if you r truly employed by this company.

Former DL here, I got out, I couldnt "motivate" people to do the impossible any longer. Good luck to everyone trying their hardest day in and day out and I hope your future is brighter whatever that means. If you are looking for a way out, stay persistent, opportunities DO exist outside of CVS.

Morale may be down in your store but not mine. I always try to stay optimistic. If you’re negative then your employees are going to see that and it will decrease their moral as well. So take your insults elsewhere. It’s simple management 101. Treat your employees with respect like I do and they will work harder and go the extra mile. Give them daily goals to help achieve outcomes. And if they can’t keep up with new expectations then I just replace them with employees that can.

Nothing is different?? Are you living in a bubble isolated from the rest of the company? Please no offense, and I mean no disrespect, but clearly you don’t see the problems and issues with cvs right now. And how about managing expectations as opposed to embracing them. If you’re a store manager, then surely you are aware of corporate’s unrealistic expectations? You’re aware that employee morale is at an all time low? You’re aware that hours have gotten so bad that even District Leaders can see it? Forgive me but everything you just said sounds like nothing more than corporate propaganda.

Wake up and smell the coffee people. Nothing is different. Cvs cuts hours every year and has been for 10 years. So stop being lazy and get to work. Just like Darwinism the ones who can’t adapt will get extinct. Or in this case find themselves at the unemployment line. And if you don’t like your jobs then do us all a favor and quit already. I am a store
Manager and rarely work over 45 and all my numbers are up. So what excuse do you have now? Just need to properly train and coach your teams on expectations. Too many people would rather complain then just work in today’s society. And it’s a damn shame.

Great post! Problem is that most DL’s prefer to cover up how bad things are and blame the PICS and SM. Reality is the problem is way above them. Cvs better realize engagement is worse than it has ever been and all the “great ideas” and Hubs are going to blow up in our faces. I am a DL and I admit I am part of the problem. My RL like all the others don’t wanna hear reality its all smoke and mirrors. People at store level scared for jobs daily, I hate myself as well. Its time to leave with our souls intact. We are so unethical to store level employees on so many levels its disgusting. Time to speak up or we all lose.

Brilliant! Maybe one day someone with a VP title will have a backbone to stand up and make a decision to truly make things better! Hint: I am 100% sure that breakrooms and bathrooms are not the highest disengaging things for stores.

I shared your post with 4 of my trusted DL peers in my region, they all said it was “spot on”

Yes thank you for posting that! And as an aside, since I assume that you’re a DL, might I ask how bad are things gonna get come January?
