I guess there is nobody that can deny it anymore, people are leaving left and right. That isn't surprising, given that most people switched into a job searching mode the minute BK was announced. What I’ve seen around the workspace is a sense of relief with the people who stay, when they see their colleagues leaving. I guess they believe that they will be just a little safer from being laid off if the headcount is smaller at a certain location. They’re wrong. This company is on a downward spiral and the leaders will stop at nothing to cut costs. Attrition really doesn’t mean anything at this point, except that your colleagues have gone to better places and that you’ll be stuck with their work and bigger expectations.

I would agree alot of people have been on the hunt lately. We lost 2 seasoned employees from our that have been though various mergers over the years. They were our teams BEST resource and left for a better environment and I am sure better pay also. I know that HR will put on the game face and say that they care but they really don't , neither does your manager/director. We don't try and counter employees at this point. It's just an added cost to the bottom line and that is all that matters now.
Layoffs will happen overnight. However take note of where they’re hiring. The peers of the new employees will be let go.
