Thread regarding Sears layoffs

Might as well wait it out

If you qualify for severance or even unemployment might as well wait it out so they have to pay out a little bit and raise their unemployment insurance if they do try to convert the hometown stores, if you can live off Sears paychecks you can live off unemployment, it shouldn't be much longer, just use that time to figure out what direction you want to go and apply for jobs you want, find a career, go take some classes, just take the 6 months to better yourself, makes more sense then going to Target or Lowe's or some place similar that would probably instantly hire you for not much more than unemployment will pay, you can always find a job at those places if you have retail experience don't sell yourself short and go to Target unless you're a manager and want to stay in retail management, it's the same b.s working at other retailers as it is working at Sears pretty much

Whats an isolated k mart? Maine, key west ,montanta?

Why not shut it all down?

All except the isolated Kmarts are surely done. Sears will probably keep some locations after the hometown deal closes next month depending on locations and rent. Those will last a while until downsized to a hometown store.

Saudi Arabia is not fire and are now producing more than ever.

Recently numbers released show we are not close to a recession or even the area if 1990 ,2001 or 2006. Cut it out there are plenty of opportunities out there

With Saudi Arabia on fire and importing oil, and the economy in a recession, don't bet on instantly finding another job. Unemployment is also a significant paycut from your job at Sears. The best time to find another job is when you have a job. And here's the other thing. Don't bet on Eddie declaring bankruptcy AGAIN, especially if Sears Holdings goes Ch 7 and tax losses don't transfer over. Just like what happened with people's with Sears post-bankruptcy, your severance might go poof in a puff of BS, because we all know Eddie will screw over everyone every chance he gets.
