Thread regarding Norfolk Southern Corp. layoffs

Feel free to leave

Best thing I ever did was walk away from the railroad. Don’t let them fool you and say u can’t find a better job than the railroad. They are out there don’t be scared to look around and test the waters. I met a lot of good people there by my family is much happier that I am gone from that. I don’t have to worry everytime I go in if this will be my last day. For those that stay I wish you the best of luck. But again don’t be afraid to look for other work if u feel the need

Yes Benefits are better. Try the Teamsters like I am now or the Longshoremen. Railroad has good benefits I agree but there aren’t the only game in town there slick

Not 4 question marks! (????) All premiums are high, and for only $230 a month, I'm good with it compared to many others out there. A family of 6 in my case, is well worth it. And early death has nothing to do with the topic at hand. My "head" has been in a NS hard hat for over 20 years. I considered myself blessed to have quality insurance so I for one won't complain about it!

Benefits much better???? You clearly havent got your head out of your hard hat in a considerable amount of time !!! Railroad healthcare premiums are ridiculous ! The only thing they have going is the retirement.... and that's if you live to enjoy it. Read the obituaries once. Staggering about of railroaders that die early.

The Railroads are a minimum of 25 years behind the Times with benefits. The only reason they pay so much is to keep a work force that thinks there is nothing better. And the almighty railroad unions aka extortion money don’t do sh– for none of the working ppl, just go eat fancy meals with the executives.

Its going to be hard finding a job as easy as working for the railroad. Zero stress, i barely have to think anymore. Would hate to have to work a full day
