Thread regarding Ford layoffs

Ford’s DNA is a manufacturing company, it has since become a Sales & Marketing Company.

Ford can’t launch because it can’t manufacture either. It’s DNA was a manufacturing company, it has since become a Sales & Marketing Company. Honda is a solid manufacturing company that can produce anything with no wheels, two wheels, three wheels, and four wheels. All at a profit within the USA. The company that founded the Model T and Assembly Line with vertical supply chain integration cannot even build a medium small car anywhere in the world. It’s a disgrace. Henry must be rolling over in his grave. Honda and Toyota can build Accords, Camrys, and Civics in Ohio and Kentucky for the past 40 years and have no problem turning a profit building a quality vehicle filling a niche for the automotive segment. Captain Hackett comes in and says we are better at making trucks then cars - SMH!!!!

Thought this was a simple but a truthful post by @1168nTDo-ngz .

Well said. Unfortunately Ford keeps hirig "turnaround CEO" instead of a well trained engineer with a proven track of successful products. In over 20 years with this company I have regretfully so, saw good engineers being marginalized or let go to make room for "Product/ Program Managers" experts in Excel, PowerPoints and Access and ittle or no experience in designing/manufacturing anything.

Too bad, this was a great company sometime ago.

Here is what Steve Jobs said about this (sales vs product people):

He starts with an assumption that a company makes an exceptionally good product that customers want and appreciate...

QUOTE:

  • So the people that can make the company more successful are sales and marketing people, and they end up running the companies. And the product people get driven out of the decision making forums, and the companies forget what it means to make great products. The product sensibility and the product genius that brought them to that monopolistic position gets rotted out by people running these companies that have no conception of a good product versus a bad product.
  • They have no conception of the craftsmanship that's required to take a good idea and turn it into a good product. And they really have no feeling in their hearts, usually, about wanting to really help the customers.
