More money wasted. Why do they need so much space when they are going to lay off so many people? You can polish up a piece of P00p but it is still a piece of P00P. If we are no longer a car company and now a technology company how long until the Ford Cell phones come out. Or tablets or search engines?
If everything goes bad those buildings can house more of the collection of the Henry Ford as it is just accross the street. The natural light would be nice
Don't be surprised if many large companies close their headquarters! Why do they need them? Kids 5 to 12 years old will work from home. They are so good with electronics it's scary, especially doing school work. My daughter does her math homework on her iPhone and sends it to the teacher, she is 10!! I asked her about a car, she laughed! Said I can live stream video chat with my friends it's faster, I'm sure some of that will change, but as for work it will not. They spend hours creating, bulidings, houses, landscapes whole cities on mind craft. I'm like my God, you could do my job in half the time. Lol
The IT is clearly going to India bit by bit. Will not need seats in the US.
Ok then get to it cars,scooters ,majic carpets.... 220,221 volts whatever it takes. Show some profitable products. Back in the 1990s ford had 6 of the best selling vehicles in US. Waiting.......

What ...focus on core business. Not Buildings with glass walls for computer users.cafes,restaurants. The retreat. Next they will have bars ,night clubs.What is going on.employees have their own retreat it's called working from home..
When is the company going to get it togather. And bring teams together to actually work on quality products.That 80 year old business model that they are tearing down built this country.yes things will change but quit cutting your nose off dispite your face.Its called work people look in the mirror and deal with it and get busy
Yeah, I watched the video presentation, as well, this morning. What interests me is what was not said, specially:
I am curious, because that new building shown looked a lot like some of the tech HQ's on the West course...so is this the new Ford WHQ and the company is going to shrink to an extremely small size, or are the other functional areas of the company stuck with their crummy buildings?
But most importantly the buildings will be filled with Steelcase furniture
Ford needs to get out of the car business. They stink at it.
Wish they would spend money making good quality cars. So sick way they have been spending money on other things. Brand new car back to dealer twice for two different repairs. Had it less then two weeks.
First, you are never going to get tons of talent to move to SE MI when the West and East coast have so much more to offer. People don't make cross country move decisions for a freaking building. Sure....I'll move across the country from all my family, friends, and a life to be all by myself in the middle of nowhere because you built a building. Said nobody ever. Doesn't make sense unless we are going to start renting space to companies with employees. Remember we are building a giant tech center in India. Then another in Mexico so all the white collar jobs can be sent.
Also, seems like they will fix the food situation by making it so you don't have to leave campus to get real food (not Aramark).
It is a lot of money, but to be fair most Ford buildings are a dump. Visuals matter when attracting people!
