Thread regarding Sears layoffs

Has ever been a worse retail closing than this mess?

Think of all the stores such as Radio Shack, Waldenbooks,Sports Authority and others. It was sad and hard on staff but this is down right cruel to the hard working people in these stores. Shame on those profiting from this . should be ashamed. Its an absolute shame.

Notice how Eddie keeps quiet? Not a peep from the cowardly lion. Don't be shocked that Transformco is in the red, financially. The truth always comes out in bankruptcy court.

KMart at one time owned Waldenbooks/Borders, Sports Authority, OfficeMax, and Pace Warehouse Clubs. But Kmart couldn’t leverage any of those to make the overall company stronger. KMart even had those American Fare Hypermarts in Charlotte, Atlanta, and Jackson, MS in the late 80s/early 90s that could have reinvented the entire brand. Just unfortunately that Kmart management was half-hammed in competing against other retailers and sought the easy money of selling off brands instead of growing a large family of retail banners.

Also, the book cooking and possibly money washing that occurred under the Conover and Schwartz era of Kmart. Read up on those 2 before you call out Eddie.

The greatest trick the devil ever played was to make us believe he did not exist.

Kaiser Soze....

The retail devil existed here and caused much pain, heartache and tears. Lesson learned for our future to trust few......it was all a lie,a big lie and now its over. Goodbye and good luck

Yeah, there was/is no plan for kmart, other than closing it down. The plan to close all big sears and just rebrand the sears hometown as sears home and life won't work. Appliances, tools, and mattresses? With all of the warranty problems with recently sold appliances, no one in their right mind will shop at sears. Tools? All made in china c-ap. It is just easier and cheaper to go to Harbor freight. You get the made in china tool for the made in china price, instead of the made in china tool for the namesake that means nothing any longer. Mattresses? Come on- everyone now a days seems to be shopping online for the new gen mattresses. Older, established mattress brands are having difficulties. So three strikes against new sears before it is even established (provided it can be established at this point).

Nope, this is the worst retail closing in history! Woolworths, Ames, Zaire etc they just went out of business and closed their stores. It seems it was purposely avoided with Kmart/Sears. I don't think the press attention of a nation going out of business sale for the two biggest (at one time) retailers.
