Thread regarding Gulfstream Aerospace layoffs

They are coming for your livelihood.

Anyone who isn't a s—er careerist has seen this coming for a long time. The restructuring to put inexperienced and naive middle managers in place to do the dirty work and then sack them was obvious. The senior management at Gulfstream who live in their gated communities are professionals at self preservation. They demand you be loyal to the company but are only loyal to their tight circle of elitist who flash that phony smile or feign sincerity.

What is happening is a direct result of extreme mismanagement from the top down. They created several unnecessary projects for the sole purpose of expanding the career paths of their buddies. Anyone with a shred of common sense knows that many of those projects would ultimately result in thousands of job cuts with little to no real value added to the customer.

I sincerely believe that Gulfstream was once a great company who really was better than the rest. In the last decade the company has been on a straight line path to mediocrity. Once a shining star in the heavily unionized aerospace industry who treated their workforce well to prevent unionization has lost all fear of that threat. Every year they take more and more from their complacent and docile workforce. Now they are coming to take everything you have worked in good faith to create for yourself and your family.

Now is the time to stand up and level the playing field. Unionization has many pitfalls but with anything you have to take the good with the bad. I sincerely believe that now is the time, more than ever, for the the Gulfstream workforce to put the company in check and establish real rights for you and your family. A union will fight and win against rogue management. They will negotiate fair and enforceable conditions of employment. If they come to steam roll over you they will be stopped dead in their tracks because they are no longer fighting against you but against the entire workforce.

I would not want a union, I was in one in the 70's an it was useless and cost more money than worth.

Unions vote left, the GOP will never allow it.

Would a union be possible/beneficial?

Georgia is an “employment-at-will” state, which means that an employer or employee may generally terminate an employment relationship at any time and for any reason (GA Stat. Sec. 34-7-1).
