MetLife, Inc. (MET) today announced that Bill Pappas will join the company as Executive Vice President and Head of Global Technology and Operations, effective Nov. 19, 2019. Pappas will report to President and Chief Executive Officer Michel Khalaf and become an executive officer of MetLife and a member of its Executive Group.

Pappas joins MetLife from Bank of America, where he was the head of operations for the consumer, small business, wealth management and private banking businesses. In this role, Pappas directed a team comprised of more than 50,000 employees and contractors delivering integrated service and operations solutions to approximately 63 million consumers and clients. In addition, Pappas led the global business services team that provides integrated technology solutions across Bank of America.
Previously, Pappas was the chief information officer for Bank of America’s global wholesale banking business, head of global capital markets operations, and head of technology and operations for the Europe, Middle East & Africa and Asia Pacific regions. He also served as the global treasury payment operations executive responsible for all global payment operations, based out of London. Prior to joining Bank of America, he spent seven years at General Electric Capital Services in the U.S. and Europe.
Pappas was chosen as one of Bank Systems & Technology’s “Elite 8” as a CIO who embraces change and innovation to achieve competitive distinction. He is a member of The Federal Reserve Bank of New York’s Payments Risk Committee and a member of the Harvard Kennedy School’s Council on the Responsible Use of Artificial Intelligence.
Pappas holds a B.A. cum laude in government and an MBA in international business from Bentley University.
