Contractors arrived for work on Thursday, with many finding that their badges no longer worked. Supposedly, it was a security mistake, contradicted by the fact that in the evening, contract agencies sent out letters stating that "Gulfstream Human Resources will facilitate the collection, packing and shipping of your belongings." Those that gained access were told later that Thursday was their last day. This is how the world's pre-eminent aircraft company does business and treats its workers. Cold, disenguous, ruthless.

Apparently about 600 - 800 contract employees were let go last week company-wide. The big day will be next Thursday, severance package is decent if you've been there a long time. Once again Gulfstream is letting the older experienced employees go in order to bring in the new (cheaper) younger college types who have never worked on the floor on an aircraft yet have a degree from Embry Riddle - so more mistakes & more loss of revenue will continue, despite 2 new Service Centers being opened this week - get out if you can!
Here we go
I work with some people they could let go. Sure would be nice
Everywhere so we have been told
Where did you hear this number ?
I'm hearing 2500 - 2600 will be cut GAC wide.
Are you worthiness to the company? You'll be ok if you are.
Pretty new to Gulfstream. Would a senior airworthiness inspector in Long Beach be considered a “safe” or “risky” position?
Layoffs started a couple months ago. Most of the Program Office was let go.
I worked for them for 4 years and left for greener pastures this year. They have no idea what "value added" employees are. I was there for the 2015 layoffs and some really talented people were let go. Most of management survived and continued to drive the company into the ground. It's a "good old boys club" with incompetent, inexperienced managers running the show. Take the severance and run!!!

Anyone know how many people they’re laying off? Or around how many?
I don't think it was the real Mark Burns, FYI. But they told us no VSP, but RIF severance stuff that is available in the policies... It shows how many weeks you'll get per year of service at Gulfstream. And they also told us "mainly value add people will be kept" so people working to build and sell the airplanes will be "safer"
Mark Burns, are you saying that people that have “hands on aircraft” jobs will be laid off or people with support roles will be laid off?
What severance will be offered?
Every department got the very vague “a lay-off comes mid October”. No number. Just people essential to the customers (so building planes, selling them and support). Direct and indirect.
Everywhere, or just in Savannah?
