Thread regarding Xerox Corp. layoffs

Parts, Supplies, Customer Service, Shop Repair

What’s going to happen to parts, warehouse, shop repair, supplies, and customer service. Haven’t heard anything in these positions.

Overall parts supply has deteriorated to a snails pace.Finished goods equipment not much better...The old adage ,”You get what you pay for” or “So goes outsourcing.”

I think Carmine was saying the story isn’t over. As official transcript from the earnings call states, “there is more work to do” in that space. One possible is that the space used by the outsourced provider (warehouse) is located elsewhere. And with that, all the local support functions don’t need to be local/Webster.

To Carmine: Warehousing and order fulfillment has already been outsourced for parts, supplies and equipment Makes you wonder what "supply chain rationalization" means beyond the warehousing.

Supply Chain rationalization puts a big question mark on Webster warehouse and support ops. The idea is spares can be drop shipped from elsewhere, local presence not necessary and shop repair is more expensive. With the HP toner sourcing agreement those supporting the plant are at risk but is a longer term item.

All of this is well on the way to outsourcing.

The Customer Care Center in USCBO moved to Guatemala years ago... eventually that's where everything will be...unless HCL decides to move it to India...

The key to it all will be outsourcing to a company with a proven record for planning, inventory management and a reliable shipping vs the cheapest provider. Which pretty much eliminates anyone Xerox currently does business with.

There still needs to be local warehouses to support the local techs meaning parts, shop repair and warehouse is fine. Actual order processing such as supplies will have most of the jobs outsourced but every area did things differently so there will probably be a few people that stay on until their location/billing system gets consolidated into another.
