Fiber and broadband in Moultrie - fake news?

https://www.moultrieobserver.com/news/localnews/windstream-st-phase-of-expansion-complete/article40ba12ba-bbb4-11e9-ae7c-a3e0bb39225c.html

"MOULTRIE, Ga. — Windstream ... announced the completion of the first phase of a fiber network expansion in the city, wiring over 4,500 addresses for ultra-fast 1-gig Internet service ... The buildout is the result of over $780,000 invested."

That's less than $200 per home

We already have a ftth footprint in Moultrie running B/G pon the nodes were upgraded to new units with higher capacity lags and are now qualified to serve '1 gig' service. Not fake news, just corporate spin. Not all the homes had to have a new OSP buildout thus their share of the cost was not as high. Just a new ont for the higher bandwidth service and they can get the higher service. The expenses is for any retrofit to expand the OSP, the new nodes, the new circuit to feed the new nodes. Thus lowered cost per house hold serviceable and faster services on offer to stay competitive.
