It's all legal mumbo jumbo at first but after a few days you learn what to ignore the 90% that's just routine legal admin stuff or small disputes. Here's a cheat sheet of stuff I've learned to ignore:
• " Notice of Appearance and Request for Notices ..." or "... Request for Service of Papers"
• " Declaration of Disinterestedness of ..."
• " Supplemental Affidavit of Service ..."
• " Affidavit of Service of ..."
• stuff appointing or confirming lawyers and consultants "Effective Nunc Pro Tunc"
• "Order for Admission Pro Hac Vice"
• there are filings related to various lawsuits against Windstream in other courts; these now involve the bankruptcy court. None of those look very big.
• stuff involving various local governments and tax collection
Sometimes the lengthy monthly fee statements from lawyers and consultants are worth very quickly skimming to see what they're spending their time on that month. In other words, what's got either the unsecured creditors or management's attention.
Windstream has to post monthly operating results. Those are interesting. They don't get to spin those.
I also skim filings that don't have the usual buzzwords from the list above.
None of this very effectively shows what's happening at the detailed ILEC and CLEC operating level. Everybody comparing notes (not b–ches) and piecing together the situation here probably reveals the future more than anything else.
(I'm not saying b–ching and kvetching is bad - you've probably earned the right).
I know multiple ILEC customers look at this board in my town.
