Thread regarding Boeing Co. layoffs

The downfall started with merge of Mcdonell Douglas

In fact, most of the board was constructed from senior board members of Douglas.. This is where the culture of Boeing changed. Build airplanes and design them with cheaper outsourcing. Stonecipher believed in this philosophy and Boeing continued this for a decade. With that being said, the rank and file used to have a voice. That voice I believed through the strikes would give the board of directors a clearer vision where the company would go. Meanwhile, the board of directors under Mcnerney decided to present the rank and file with a long standing contract and a bonus.. They made the rank and file believe 737 Max would take the company to levels never seen before. The backlog was tremendous. 5500 planes..But, Mcnerney didn't want to do it the right way by redesigning a brand new plane. They wanted to slam the door on Airbus and go the cheaper route. Well that route has put the Max future and rank and file in jeopardy. With the FAA having a new chief getting that plane in the air will be difficult. Personally speaking, Boeing operating cash flow is still in great shape even if they abandon the Max outright. Gaining public trust and bringing back the old reputation of Boeing is needed. We need a culture change at the top. How do we accomplish this,by abandoning the Max and bring in the best engineers and redesign a new plane. By doing this, we will bring back the Boeing of old and make Bill Boeing proud again...

Alan is not coming back. The mentality that people have pride in their work is a thing of the past. Most people I see now are milking it and retired in place. It’s no wonder the execs believe in outsourcing in the first place. It’s the unions plus corporate greed mentality putting the nails on this Boeing coffin.

Boeing is an amazing company with employees who take tremendous pride in their workmanship and products. Most of us who have been around awhile have seen this scenario before, that is, when the company outsources critical work rather than relying on the experienced in-house workforce it eventually ends badly. The Board should bring Alan Mulally back (as a consultant if they have to) and give him free rein to restore, restructure and get the MAX Program back on track. I certainly hope the bad decisions made by the senior/executive management teams are reflected in their bonuses this year.

It all started with merger of McDonnell Douglas? Wow, I know where you pulled that comment out of...or was it meant to be comedy?
