Thread regarding CVS layoffs

CVS has no set direction

The company has no set direction and spends money in every which way except on their employees. More tasks yet preach service. How do you service without man power? How do you train the next wave of managers without investing time and money into them. More merchandise in stores but stock rooms and sales floor sq footage remains the same. When will they learn to listen to their employees who are on the front lines instead of data scientists who sit in a cubicle at Woonsocket all day? You spend all this money on resets like an "Y mas" and THH because you want a connection to the community but then turn around and stick ACO's in the store. You don't give us the time to train the next wave of managers and then wonder why there's a shortage of talent. There's no talent shortage it's just they see us stressed and then reflect and think, "do I want to be in the same boat as our SM's?" Most will second guess the move. Our stores belong to vendors yet you complain about sales and margin. Our inventory system and practices are ineffective and time consuming. You listen to everything customers say except when they say stores are short staffed and need help. Weekly conference calls that are over an hour long yet you want sales floor presence. Closing 24 hour stores and question managers as to why store sales are down double digits. Flooding us with promo items yet again complain about margins. Years back it was mandatory that two people are in the building for safety and LP issues..but now cost cutting amd payroll is more important than the safety of the employees. I could go on. I have nothing to gain by this post. After 11 years as an SM I have 4 days left with the company and am moving on to a career that invests in their employees by providing a great tuition assistance program, training program and better pay. Good luck to all.

I thank you all for the responses. This is a career I came to love only to be shadowed by corporate greed.

This is by far the best post or if not one best I’ve came across.
Thank you for saying it professionally and stating nothing but facts and the reality of the day to day business in the store.
I wish you the very best and I think you’ve made the best decision for yourself, since clearly the company never had any of it’s employees best interest in mind. A working culture that feels supported, rewarded will achieve great things. Good Business 101 !!!

This company is not in the business of satisfying employees but rather customers and being profitable at the expense of who ever gets in their way. It’s a very blunt way to run a business - one that I don’t agree with and the reason why I resigned a year ago.

Best to all !!!
