Thread regarding Ford layoffs

Promotions. From GSR 7-8

My boss promised a promotion a while ago
But haven’t delivered.
What’s the process for my boss? Does my boss need to submit request online? Is there paperwork?

Tell me - What steps should I take? Advice?
Any past experiences?

Usually in series promotions do not happen until after year end performance reviews are complete and compensation planning starts the following Feb./March time frame. It may be a timing issue.

For an agency head to hire in your shop has to have an agreement to let Ford hire you direct. You should know if that's in the contract since it's long been a promised carrot to keep you there long as possible despite the stick of low pay, poor benefits, and second class status. If there's no agreement you're pretty much stuck until either you've been around so long they can justify a bump (IE reclassification, figure at least five years) or you leave for at least 90 days and come back to another opening (either direct or agency again). I can promise you that MSX will get in your way if you're an agency and try to shift around under any circumstances.

Typically an agency person does not get promoted and is prevented from applying for another ford agency position as it is considered a tactic to get an increase. You could get an increase If your LL6 makes a business case that you should be reclassified because the job you are currently doing is different than the one you were hired for or your responsibilities have drastically increased. That doesn’t usually work to your benefit because your agency will take the increase and will give very little to you.

Does anyone have knowledge on how agency employment works for hiring in, promotions, etc? Pretty much told I can't be considered for any other positions/promotions or anything until I'm an actual Ford employee. We had a couple positions open over the last few years and I wasn't considered for any of them though I am the one who did those jobs in while they search in addition to doing my own job and 3 other incompetent coworker's jobs. Thinking I need to take my talents elsewhere

The supervisor fills in a form online with justification and amount of increase. The LL5 must approve, then HR must approve.
HR has been denying promotions when the salary increase is close to the max. So if 6% is the max and your supervisor puts in 4.9% it is approved, but 6% is denied.
HR will deny promotions when the justification is poor.
LL5s have been known to deny promotions as they want to promote other people instead or they don’t like the person being promoted.

In-series promotions where typically filed in the fall, with an approval process in Q1 of the following year. This year that has been eliminated, and your supervisor can provide a promotion “On The Spot” regardless of the time of year and without PDC guidance. Guidelines are provided, but it up to the supervisor. This pertains to GSRs only, and not moves from GSR8 to LL6.

Your boss must take you through the incredibly stupid PDC process, where other supervisors that don't even know you grade you and rate you. It's all a crock. Get out of that nonsense and work somewhere where your skills are appreciated.

Your boss can give you an in series promotion from GSR 7 to 8 if he or she believes it is deserved. There are some guidelines based on length of time in current GSR level which your boss should be able to explain. Typically the promotions aren’t “promised” until the paperwork is complete.

Are you brand new to Ford? Unless you have only been here for a few months, you would clearly know a boss can't just simply "promise" you a promotion and boom it happens. That's not how it works. If you have been here a while and you think that is how it works, thinking you should of been someone they walked out.

Tons of people are in layoff pattern and you wonder why your boss didn't deliver on his "promise" to promote you? What are you 5 years old? Next step is clear, go find a job that pays you better and stop believing in promises...
