Thread regarding AT&T layoffs

Finance Billing Operations Outsources their employees to Accenture

Potential of over 3,000 employees being outsourced to Accenture similar to recent outsourcing of employees to IBM and Tech Mahindra. AT&T is using its employees to transfer pay, benefits, and pension expense to debt reduction of assets.

Hourly employees are not impacted according to the VP, Maggie Weaklend.

to He/She who wrote: “Although Maggie has been outsourcing US management positions to Bratislava for years.”

There is a big difference between relocating business functions from one AT&T site to another AT&T site. That is not outsourcing, the positions stayed within AT&T just at a location that performs at a cheaper running cost.

Why not to tell us directly what is really going to happen to our jobs? This is such a coward way to communicate major changes that are going to impact thousands of families. Why not to tell us who is going to keep their job and who should start looking elsewhere? Years and years of knowledge, loyalty and experience flew out of the window without spec of respect toward us. Guess all that talk about importance of communication, community a honesty goes down the drain when it comes to saving some cash.

What a disgusting way of communicating such an impacting thing to thousands of families by a "communication" company. And then all these communications about diversity, being equal, by the CEO. APPERENTLY THIS ALL STOPS WHEN MONEY IS INVOLVED.

Finance services is keeping it close to the vest as to which teams will be outsourced and when. My guess is a majority of the teams will be outsourced. Not sure if it includes international.

I believe that in the professional ranks, outsourcing is now a greater risk than direct layoffs. ATO and Tech Dev were the test cases and now they are rolling it out to other parts of the company. Everyone pay attention and always have backup plans. I know many in Weaklend's organization that were completely surprised by yesterday's announcement.

The 9/11 announcement impacts the entire organization globally except non-management employees.

Voluntary retirement offers are being made to two or more non management titles tomorrow morning is what I was told. What was said is that no non management / bargained employees are being moved to Accenture. The affected managers are all moving to Accenture. What we don’t know is the scope of the transition to Accenture. How many of Maggie’s teams are being outsourced...

So does anyone know if this will impact non-management bargain employees? The OP said hourly employee would not be impacted per Maggie, but then another post said voluntary offers were being extended to non-management?

Dallas Tx is affected. And other areas with managers under Maggie. There are voluntary offers out to a lot of non management to be announced tomorrow morning. Managers told more will be announced within 60 days. I think the only question is if all business groups under Maggie are affected or only some. The technical teams very likely being outsourced to Accenture.

Check Accenture.com careers postings. "Finance Professional needed in the southeast" Read the job description, that's where our jobs are going. Be prepared to interview for your position in the new company and map out your exit strategy. Choices will be limited and the outsource will be done before end of year in order to close out the books with the "non-recurring one time expenses" in the adjusted numbers. It's not my first experience with this type of thing.
