Thread regarding Sears layoffs

Check out jobs.sears.com Eddie's not even pretending to run a real company anymore

A month ago, there was a HUGE number of Vice President and Director positions open that will never be filled. Now there's just the VP of Finance and a handful of 4 Director positions left open, including 3 software engineering and 1 Investigations. Head of Technology gone. Several Marketing positions gone. Credit Development gone. Business Development gone. SYW gone. E-commerce gone. Payroll gone. Vendor management and Buyers gone. All open positions at the director level or higher. Anything necesssary to running a retail company at a national level gone. If there's any evidence that anyone needed to prove that Eddie has completely pulled the plug on the Sears experiment, this is it. The company is completely in wind down liquidation mode now.

Oh come on. The active job openings show a senior commitment to the Go Forward Plan and continued growth and transformation. The Company would not be hiring for senior leadership positions if the major investments in transformation were not being made.

SYW is a joke. There was an incident just days ago that left some members with millions in redeemable points. No one is left who can analyze the data. Let's not forget the fubar that took down every system leaving the entire company kaput for an entire week. No parts. No buyers. No vendors. No design. No business development. No marketing. A website that doesn't work. Order fulfillment that just sends random c-ap to make metrics. Even c-appy corporate real estate that can only be used as a nursing home. Eddie screwed everyone unethically and incompetently including himself.

Hometown's bankruptcy was a done deal until Eddie fired the directors to stop it. He owned that too. Another company ruined because of no product and no parts.

Hometown will become home and life. There are likely people on that side already experienced with running smaller stores. They just needed someone to set up the concept before the hometown buyout.

Even the Home & Life team that just opened 3 new stores in May got let go. They apparently aren’t moving forward with hiring the Head of Sears Home & Life anymore either. That was the supposed future of the company. My advice to anyone that’s currently employed by Sears to start looking for jobs immediately.

You don’t need hundreds of people to run 300 stores at a corporate level. Given the number of software engineers they’re hiring they’ll probably try and work everything electronically. SYW ran perfectly fine after they canned everyone during bankruptcy.

They are hiring 2649 people elsewhere.

In fact the list is pretty good to find out what stores are closing in the next batch. The closing ones have nothing that isn’t marked “seasonal”. Those not on the list are hiring normal positions.

Boo Hoo... so Sears is no longer hiring. Maybe you should start looking elsewhere. Costco is hiring, $17/hr to start.
