Thread regarding SeaWorld Entertainment Inc. layoffs

Some new info

So I have heard some additional things which may or may not point to anything new so take this all with a grain of salt.

At the Orlando contact center, the lease for that building ends at the end of this month. I know at one point in the past couple of months they were searching for a new location and then all talk of that abruptly ended and there has been no word in weeks about what is happening there. There is a call center in Jamaica that the staff for the call center has been training as well. The other thing that has now been mentioned is Thursday there is a department wide mandatory meeting at the call center. So we presume some news will come out of that.

There are issues with the new corporate office. All the move-ins was supposed to be done by now. However there was a curve-ball thrown with this. There is a block on getting the CO or even a temporary one for the moment. That may have been resolved in the last few days but if it does get blocked, it could take months to resolve. If that occurs.. that is just a train wreck and will be a huge issue trying to fit everyone from corporate into other offices + the money that will need to be spent for that. That's not really a layoff issue per-say, but just not a good luck.

On the actual corporate team though.. they currently have 3rd party people in the office going over everything from what I was told. All projects are being reviewed, duties are being looked at. Its of the feeling that it could just be a matter of time before the teams at corporate get shown the door and told "Our teams will take it from here, thank you for your service".

We still have not had any communication about the new vacation policy. Nothing on replacements for people like the Orlando park president (Even someone who directly helped them was now shoved to one of the satellite offices for Orlando which doesn't seem like they are keen on replacing the local park president), hiring is still largely at a standstill including for spots that are approved from a park standpoint yet corporate is denying them, things are very much a mess at the moment.

Some of the consultants on property are not very good at their jobs. With the exception of one, those shadowing in the technology realm may be able to spell IT, but that is the extent of their technical knowledge. At best it's limited to a first year apprentice.

Kaizen seemed to go away and then BAT came in. Now consultants. I remember in the speech the BAT team gave, they said it was great to have internal employees investigate and find efficiencies instead of having consultants come in. OOF.

Sw became very into the whole "kaizen" stuff a few years ago for efficiencies. So i know that they def have looked at it before but at least one major player in that process for the orlando parks departed i believe earlier this year. So efficiencies, possibility. Not sure if they felt kaizen didn't go as far with saving money as they hoped.

It didnt really do much when i saw it on my department.

Yes, there are several consulting groups in the corporate office digging into everything. There is a feeling that it could be more efficiency work but also about the possible sale of the company. When the company was sold a few years ago, a bunch of consultants also came in and dug into our business. Not sure which it is but they are everywhere.
