Thread regarding State Farm Insurance layoffs

If you want to do 100 acts of good...do 100 acts of good

But as soon as you start posting it on social media and taking credit....You are just feeding your ego or trying to get credit! It doesn't work that way!

If you wanna feed the homeless
Feed the homeless....
BUT
The moment you put it on social media,
You are just feeding your ego........

The VPA was wrong. TC is very supportive of veterans and has been recognized as such. Thanks for your personal efforts to support our veterans.

I spent 15 years helping our vets only to be told by a VPA we don't want to hire veterans because of their military mindset. Go figure. I did the work just to let them know how personally I am indebted for their service. State Farm is full of politicians.

It is relevant because this is a company that just cut thousands of jobs - and now they are basically forcing the employees that are left to "volunteer" and the company takes the credit for the activity. (Ironically the volunteer work probably goes to help all the people who lost their jobs) I agree with the original comment - It demonstrates what this company is all about. How they look in the press. If they really wanted to help maybe they could have saved a few jobs. Sending your employees out to help for the devastation you created is pretty hollow.

It takes about 30 seconds to do a quick search and determine that employers DO NOT get a tax credit for employees who do volunteer work.

I can categorically inform that there is no tax credit for corporation/business that allows their employees a day of “volunteer” work. Nor can the employee claim a credit. The employee could theoretically receive credit for mileage incurred from their home to the place they volunteer. This has become an employment benefit that many employers have elected to include in the last decade or so.

If you want to do good, and don't want the farm getting the pub and credit for it, do it on your own.
All depends on if you want State Farm to use you as a publicity and tax tool.

It is also relevant because rather than actually have a commercial that promotes our products we are asking people to do volunteer work. Last I checked we sell insurance and are not the United Way.

It is relevant because the company is getting tax credits for every employee that volunteers.
