Frankly, I'm seeing a lot of same ol', same ol'. Anybody else actually seeing some positive changes happening?

“Health inspectors should NOT be announcing when they are coming. Would love to know where this is happening. What is the use of their inspecting if every place could clean up with a day or more notice?”
No ! They should not be announcing their visits! Sounds like the Inspector is a friend ( or relation) to someone at the store !

I told Cafe Mgr about the mold in our ice machine. Was told it wasn’t mold.
Told the store Mgr . Was told she was aware of it. AWARE OF IT ?!
“And all of them TOO LAZY to do anything to clean them up. I won’t eat or drink there. Do yourself a favor -check your cafe’s ice machine. I know of 3 stores ( friends work at the other 2) in TN.,that have MOLD in them !”
SERIOUSLY WILL NEVER buy ANYTHING in the cafe, again !!
“If the cafes are that dirty and gross how do they pass local, state health inspection?”
The Inspector who comes to our store, ANNOUNCES his visit. We spent hours after we close to make it shine.
If the cafes are that dirty and gross how do they pass local, state health inspection?
“B&N Cafés are legendary for being revolting. I've heard DMs and higher talk about it and how they'd never eat at their own store”

B&N Cafés are legendary for being revolting. I've heard DMs and higher talk about it and how they'd never eat at their own stores.
“"“customer complaints about poor staffing, dirty restrooms & cafes, ".
“Not surprising, as they have let maintenance staff go over the last year or two. The restrooms are atrocious. Plus there's not enough staff to clean the cafe, so eating the food can be dangerous”
Last time I was in there I noticed how lax the standards became. I get my coffee at Dunkin Donuts now. If Starbucks allows their coffee to be sold in dirty cafes I want nothing to do with them either.

The only good thing I've heard so far is that they've started firing some higher-ups.

Stopped in the Franklin store this weekend, cafe was filthy. Will never order anything there again. Called health inspector office this morning.
“ I will continue to be vocal about this horrible company and will do all I’m able to, to make this their worst holiday, sales wise, in their history!”
AS WILL I !!!!
“. I would bet on this holiday season as being the single most important one in the history of every store.”
I am a ex employee. My family, my friends, co workers NO LONGER shop at BN because of how they treat employees and the decline of customer service. I will continue to be vocal about this horrible company and will do all I’m able to, to make this their worst holiday, sales wise, in their history!
This is retail, so all of the buying and planning for the holiday season was done months ago. There won't be any substantive changes, I think, until after the first of the year. Not that some decisions won't be made by then. I would bet on this holiday season as being the single most important one in the history of every store.
Ah. The annual mgrs meeting.
Skimp & Dave in the stores.
Cut the cleaning services, who needs bags, let’s fire John Doe for being a 18 year, dedicated employee.
But we’ll fly you all out, put you up in hotels, feed you, let you hear how to be great managers ( they never take the speakers advice) , give you free books ( the companies would’ve sent you anyway). Then fly you back ,to lie, backstab good workers, while your staff ,of now part timers ,fielded customer complaints about poor staffing, dirty restrooms & cafes, poor selection of product, discounts don’t ring up right, new books aren’t on the shelf, my nook won’t work, where’s the new issue? This is last months magazine, etc.,etc.,etc.
Too soon (from my point of view). With the annual manager meeting coming up, that seems the reasonable time to start seeing the dissemination of whatever changes may come.
Same ole BS.
