What's going on? I heard there might have been some layoffs in other departments today, is it true?

Yup I heard 50 people in my friends department got it including her manager that she is subbed out to - this Company does not care at all about their employees - they have unreasonable deadlines and nobody has time to train individuals - good luck - If I was their employee I would not have any loyalty to that company because it is apparent they have not to their employees especially those that have been there longer than 20 years - that's just BAD BUSINESS!
Maybe this company should focus on giving their current employees better healthcare benefits first instead of giving jobs out to India. Take care of your people in this country first instead of focusing your energies in helping other people in other countries strive.
For the person complaining of being job eliminated after 35 years of work - nothing lasts forever. Lucky you lasted that long with this company. You should be grateful. Most people are not this lucky working as long as you did with this company.:-(
I was affected by the most recent CIGNA layoffs. 35 years of my life was given to them and at age 56 I’m told that my job was eliminated. My first thought was that they are gong to outsource to a the Philippines or Delhi. It doesn’t matter how good or bad the severance package is, getting laid off one month and 11 days before Christmas feels like a slap on the face and it’s extremely scary to be facing a job search and career change at 56. I for one am kind of glad to no longer be affiliated with a company that has no compassion or concern for it employees.
Someone recently posted on Facebook that Cigna is not in the process of downsizing in the U.S. because they just finished their peak hiring. What they didn’t tell you is that the peak hiring was not done here in the U.S. but rather overseas in India and Manila. So while they may have finished their peak hiring, they are currently in the process of trying to cut down as much U.S. based workers they can.

As they tell you it’s business needs but, they outsource the work to India which therefore, takes jobs from those who really need it in the United States.
Yes, getting ready for the sale of Group Insurance. Cigna needs capital now.
What departments? I have not heard anything.
And if it is, are they still happening?
