Thread regarding Sears layoffs

ESL loading up on a new company

Ironically, I’m hearing that ESL has been buying up Lowes stock. Rumor mill says Eddie is going to sell kenmore in an all stock deal to lowes and be the major over there. Sears remaining fls will become Sears-Lowes and SHOS stores will become sears-lowes hometown.

Anyone else hearing the same?

At most kenmore is worth 400-500 million, it’s really the only asset sears has left except maybe home services - which might be another 80-100 million. These are all high end valuations in my opinion too. I see zero value for a multi billion dollar company like Lowe’s or any other retailer to touch sears or Eddie lampert with a ten foot pole. Lowe’s has plenty of challenges and is not a particularly well run company. Also, if their new ceo has a couple jcpenny ideas come out of his mouth they could be in a world of hurt so hopefully this is nothing more than poorly researched rumors. Sears is damaged goods and would not enhance any organizations value because the brand is dead.

One of our I.T. VP's went over to Lowe's last year, this does not surprise me. He will be invaluable when they take over the systems and data from Sears & Kmart.

Do not underestimate Seritage and Eddie. What is owned can be Seritage’d into multiple retailers, and anyone here that overlooks that is fooling themselves.

He may very well be loading up some stock, since Lowes and Home Depot will both benefit from Sears demise. But fortunately for Lowes, Eddie doesn't have the clout to become a major force in the operation of a large successful company. He has to look for dying companies where he can put the final nails in the coffin.

3 words make this highly improbable....Orchard Supply Hardware.

Fool me once shame on you, fool me twice.

If true, well, it would be the beginning of the end for Lowe's, then. Everything that Eddie touches manages to turn to c-ap.

If Eddie to buying Lowe's stock, then you should probably buy Home Depot.

Seriously, if this report is true, then Eddie is committing insider trading.

If this is indeed true, it should make Lowes' competitors very happy....because with Eddie's track record, he will manage to destroy the company within a decade.

I can't see anything happening with Lowe's apart from perhaps their buying the Kenmore IP as a house brand.

Hearing the same. And Eddie has plenty of money plus lowes could use the tax relief buying/merging w/ sears would bring.

Plus Eddie already put some of his guys in at lowes.

Eddie does not have the resources to be a big stockholder at Lowes. He is now a small fry

Yes, heard similar. Talks are very back and forth and they are keeping it super hush at HE. This thing may or may not gain traction.
