The store just announced its closing but there is a hurricane that you are in the line of fire and they tell you to open your store. WTF

Some years ago we had a DM or some other wandering business savant come in and order us to get rid of weather-related emergency supplies that had repeatedly proven their necessity because they thought they were unsightly. I guess we were just supposed to let whatever happened happen.
Our store stayed open during a snowstorm when the entire mall had closed, we barely had power, no water, and the ceilings were leaking.
We don't get hurricanes over this far too often, but we've regularly been expected to open the store even during states of emergency due to massive blizzards.
I was in a hurricane a few years back myself. Everyone shut down but us. Most of us walked out on our manager. Our safety was at risk. Did Kmart care? Do they ever? Top 10 worst company to work for year after year. And they still don't see why.
Uh not me.
