Customer Success is a big joke in Riverbed. The current director managing (not leading) the the team is the biggest clown of all together with his troupe. I am just sitting back eating popcorn and keeping myself entertained.
All the money, recognition, and power seems to move up the hierarchy, away from people who do all the work and who are closest to customer.
Promotions are supposed to be reserved for those that are leaving their role in better health when they adopted it, not the other way around.
They just promoted another one!
"Shrinking a company is hard. Unless you are sitting at the top it is hard to see the logic. We in exec teams are doing it ourselves for the first time, but we are following tried and tested strategies we learnt from our consultants."
A complete admission of guilt. What you're saying is you're relying on someone else's work/efforts and HOPING things will work out. What part of this did you think this was a good idea when you put in zero effort and ignore the people that actually do the work? This is not leadership.

In many ways like the fertilizer business.

Support was destroyed by “customer success” and the fake implementation of one.
Let them call us. Do we have anyone left in support????????
One month to go. Next week is slow due to long weekend. Should I take the extra effort to call customers?
Some of the promoted were part of the problem. They’re just good at covering up their short comings. All I can say is birds of a feather tend to flock together. Hope these promoted people know they’re not good and should they leave, they’ll realize this very quickly.
Ha ha ha... A situation where you have many commanders on the battlefield but no enlisted men to charge up and take the hill.
Hard to do when you keep promoting more of them.
