Thread regarding Xerox Corp. layoffs

No point in trying to do a good job

What other company lays off employees who do good work? Everybody else will make sure they are promoted or at least rewarded in some other way. Not at Xerox. Every new layoff I see more good people escorted out. And some of the laziest people are left behind.

So tell me, why even bother?

I will always give 100% because that’s how I was raised. That’s how I roll. But I certainly do not do it at Xerox with the enthusiasm I once had.

It seems like every few months we are being asked to justify what our jobs are. Who are all these management types asking what it is we do ...?

If you have been transitioned then keep in mind you work for another company presently and follow your ethics.
If you still work for Xerox then buckle in because it’s only a matter of time before your expense is evaluated, NOT your performance. It’s all about your cost and more importantly the cost of your team. It has little to do now with your individual performance.
Xerox is not in a state of evaluating for prosperity with selective people or positions, they instead are in a state of panic and looking for massive reductions as quickly as they can get it.
Worrying about your performance while on a high cost team is like worrying about vacuuming the house while in a hurricane, flooded to the roof watching your car float down the street.
Get out as fast as you can.

There is no reason to care about any of the work at X because every deal signed actually reduces the revenue & thus actually contributes to another inevitable round of layoffs & offshoring. They don’t look at the person, it’s just a number on a spreadsheet & each worker is viewed as a $$ cost amount that needs to come off the balance sheet. Realize that hard work only amounts to being one step closer to your own demise. Do yourself a favour and get out while you can!
