Thread regarding Norfolk Southern Corp. layoffs

Why are Railroad companies tumbling down when there’s plenty of business?

This question might sound simple and naive, but when you look at the whole business it all comes down to to that. Last time I checked railroad was still the most effective and the cheapest means of transport. I mean, we had tougher times in the business and we didn’t have so much layoffs, cuts, furloughs, or whatever. Could it be that corporate greed has risen to that level where the leaders sacrifice their own company employees, even though they don’t have any real need to do that?

Railroads are no longer desirable jobs. Get out and get a better career while you can. Job growth and advancement is gone in the railroad industry. Don't stay and sell yourselves short, you all deserve the American dream, you all deserve better. Take care of yourselves, the railroad has been done for awhile now taking care of it's employee's.

One word, GREED! The old railroad is GONE. The new railroad will consist of autonomous locomotives and even their maintenance will be subcontracted out. If you're still young, leave now and create a better career and much happier for you and your family.

yes that’s it. that and the next economy bubble. they plan years ahead. they are planning for the next wave of goods to be transported and it’s not coal or cheap c-ap from overseas... that is going to continue to slow or eventually stop.
