Thread regarding Boeing Co. layoffs

Do you really think there'll be no layoffs?

Let me get this straight - there are people who honestly believe there will be no major layoffs at Boing any time soon? Is this correct? After everything that has happened? No layoffs?

To be honest, I really wish I had those powers of denial myself. But sadly, I chose to live in reality.

If there is a large layoff, you can bet it will be at least a 3 month timeframe. For some it will be permanent. It depends on any cancelation impacts. I remain hopeful as I am in the same boat as everyone.

Now is the perfect time to buy a house, have a kid, and get your sweetheart a new Lexus!!! What have you got to lose? The aerospace industry is at an all time high for demand....Did you buy stock a week ago? If you did you made money....If a layoff comes it will be a short one....You will wish you had the time off because the designated overtime is going to be brutal....

They wont need to build planes in February since it will still be grounded due to lack of certification.

Yes and nobody with a GED would tell you the way to resolving those issues would be too operate at a lower margin for an extended period of time. Where do you guys get this stuff. It's been 6 months of you people guaranteeing layoffs by x date then delaying. I don't even know who the people are posting here bc we literally read and laugh at this board everyday in my shop bc its so far off into conspiracy land compared to the average workers opinions.

How long have you been at Boeing. Boeing laid off people just because consultants said so in prior years. Now the company is facing potential financial issues. Basically yes I think they would cut in certain areas. Not Renton if they max comes back strong with the airlines and public. Will be a while before it’s known.

And you think Boeing’s way of reconciling the financial situation would be to lay-off employees and produce at an otherwise lower rate IE lower margins. Great take. The only thing that could produce layoffs is a serious delay to the current recert timeline. Without that Boeing will be back to a hiring bonanza come June and we’ll all have to find something else to fear monger about. Early bets on looming recession and/or tin foil all work gone to South Carolina theories

At some point the company will reconcile with the financial situation and there may be serious cuts. It really depends how fast people retire.

You have to remember. If the certification is delayed there is a huge backlog to deliver and some airlines may not be ready to receive them. Many scenarios could play out.

What is true is the company does not want to conduct layoffs in most areas. I do agree with that statement. What will come if a delay continues and the company goes deeper into the hole is the big question.

There’s still plenty of time for layoffs and yes some got warns. I know them personally. Two individuals in same department. Perhaps more will be handed out depending on what the schedule looks like for certification.

Layoffs are not coming. I am one of those who wanted a layoff. I even asked my manager but was refused. Upon telling him that i will quit myself then what. He told me you can do that but i see no reason for company to pay you 12 weeks of pay to do that.

Seems like you are one of me who wanted one and is creating an alternate reality.

Sorry they are not coming

If a big lay-off is coming then why wait until now. This logic makes no sense. If we were getting kid off we’d long be on warns. But no they’re going to wait until the plane get it’s recert THEN lay us off bc idk I’m just here to scare ppl and hate Boeing.
