Will Ford follow VW’s lead? Firing misbehaving staff?

https://www.detroitnews.com/story/business/autos/foreign/2019/08/23/vw-fired-staff-breaching-rules-compliance-crackdown/40000987/

“Volkswagen AG told employees that it fired 204 staff for breaching company rules in the first quarter, as the German automaker stiffens its response to internal misconduct in the aftermath of the diesel-cheating scandal that erupted in 2015.

About half the terminations involved work-time violations like unexcused absence, according to an article published in the July edition of a staff newspaper seen by Bloomberg. Other reasons include property offenses, ignoring d–g and alcohol bans, and discrimination.”

My guess is no as the SRD left all of these staff intact.
Many peoples working 20 work weeks while getting paid for 40.
The morning belt/snort in the parking lot, followed by the lunch time beverages and the afternoon pick me ups are commonly observed in Allen Park and Dearborn. The leaders look the other way. Those who speak up have targets painted on their backs.

What I thought was hilarious. They called this a smart redesign to save money. Straight after letting a bunch of highly experienced, well respected LL6s go, they promoted 9 “diversity candidates”. How does that save money. One of the promotions was the person who led the redesign. Line your own pockets or what. That’s all I ever saw at LL5+ levels. It doesn’t matter the long term consequences to the company so long as I look good & it helps me get the next step. Sad.
Ford is like a diseased cow with the senior leaders clambering to get on the wilting udders and get that last drop of stale milk.

Very strange logic at Ford. I was taught to save money by buying quality once and keeping that item for a lifetime, and taking care of it. I was also taught to buy only what I needed.
The logic at Ford appears to be acquire and keep many poor quality cheaper items and dispose of the quality items. It doesn’t take a genius to realize keeping the quality items (staff) and disposing of the poor quality items (staff) would save money. Very odd culture and values which is reflected in product quality.

That would mean firing all LL5's as they are the layer of clay and downright liars. May help the screwed up situation....

They likely won’t. SRD seemed to go after people approaching a pension milestone or those making a higher salary than their peers. Those behaving badly don’t usually get the best reviews and therefore won’t have the highest salaries. Unless they do something to draw a lot of attention they should be somewhat safe. But then who knows how they’ll select the victims of the next purge.
