Thread regarding Boeing Co. layoffs

To the Sheep saying no Layoffs at Boeing lets see you spin and explain this one away

Pentagon ends Boeing 'k–l vehicle' contract, cites technical problems

WASHINGTON, Aug 21 (Reuters) - The U.S. Defense Department said on Wednesday it is canceling a Boeing Co contract for a "k–l vehicle" due to technical design problems after spending $1.2 billion on the project.

The decision to end the contract for the Redesigned K–l Vehicle (RKV) follows the Pentagon's move in May to issue a stop work order on the project after it "determined the technical design problems were so significant as to be either insurmountable or cost-prohibitive to correct," the Pentagon said.

In December, the Missile Defense Agency and Boeing deferred a design review due to the failure of critical components to meet technical requirements.

Boeing said it accepts the "decision to terminate work" on the vehicle and supports the competition for a new system, it said in a statement.

"After exercising due diligence, we decided the path we're going down wouldn't be fruitful, so we're not going down that path anymore," said Michael Griffin, under secretary of defense for research and engineering. "Ending the program was the responsible thing to do."

One more time since none of the dips-t union wants to respond.

As stated in an earlier post of mine, Boeing CAN'T lay off. This is a tight job market, if they layoff, they won't get those people back when they need them.

Now, Boeing should not be too worried about the stupid union folks. For some reason they choose to sit at home, collect unemployment and wait for Boeing to call them back. I wish I was independently wealthy like that. They probably have issues choosing which boat to take out that day. Anyway, Boeing needs to worry about engineers, if you lay off an engineer, they WILL find another job in this economy, and fast.

What I did not think of before is that if Boeing laid off, suppliers would too. So it's not just the Boeing expertise that may go to other companies and industries, but supplier expertise as well.

Don't believe me, how about this Bloomberg article...

The only "sheep" are the otherwise intelligent people who ignore their better judgement and drink the Union koolaid.

Let's start here...Max cert flight in October

https://www.bloomberg.com/news/articles/2019-08-23/boeing-737-max-s-certification-flight-likely-to-occur-in-october

Rate increasing in February by American Machinist (aren't those your union brothers?)

https://www.americanmachinist.com/news/boeing-prepping-raise-737-max-production

Oh, and to replace the billion $$$ cancelled k–l vehicle (due to Raytheon warhead as mentioned by a previous poster) let's go with a billion $$$ project they won for the A-10.

https://www.nytimes.com/reuters/2019/08/21/business/21reuters-boeing-pentagon.html

Spin that!!!

We have been here for 2 years listening to the predictions of Layoffs on certain dates, and then the backpedaling when it does not happen.

Go ahead, predict Layoffs in the future, you will always be right, they will happen, maybe a year, 2 years, 5 years, it happens. The funny think is the dates that have been wrong EVERY SINGLE TIME.

Typical Sheep response. Raytheon being at fault has zero bearing on what Boeing is going to do and it's probably going to be a mistake like Boeing managers and HR usually make. I worked in a Program that had a similar situation happen. What happened next was a aggressive manager who operated on their own warped thinking if you can call it that, got together with the HR loser and got a RIF declared and then the aggressive manager did what they do best - handed out layoff notices several weeks later. The other managers stood aside like good little sheep and let this aggressive manager destroy the program's number of skilled people even though it was a known fact the skills of the people that ended up being handed a layoff notice would desperately be needed 6-12 months later. Some of the manager sheep that stood by and watched this go down were higher level managers too. The HR id–t has zero technical knowledge and couldn't find their way out of a paper bag or tell you what end was the "Aft" of a airplane if their life depended on it. But HR id–t had all the power to decide who was going to be handed a layoff notice. So 12 months later program is short of staff and missed critical program key dates. You would think the aggressive manager along with the HR id–t when have been shown the door but both are still in program.

Inside Info: it was cancelled because Raytheon's warhead did not work. Boeing builds the delivery system.

It was cancelled and there will probably be an RFP for a whole new system and maybe Boeing can get the whole thing or partner with a better supplier.
