It's a shame all CWA locals (legacy qwest & embarq) dont fight for a nationwide contract. The differences in pay & benefits are almost unbelievable from one region to the next. Until that happens none of us have a shot at a decent contract.

Control was given up years ago when union agreed to take less now and the company said they will give you more next contract which never comes company not breaking the union, the union is doing it their self with incompetent negotiating always saying vote no then when strike vote comes they fold these great raises amount around $40 a week
Brothers and sisters you can have the best wording of all on health insurance and raises. And it will not mean a hill of beens I’f we are sold if we do not have the Successorship clause. Rumor is CTL took it off the table.
Unacceptable, the union just can’t afford to give up a negotiable power like healthcare. There are too many members who will vote yes because they are so far in debt and cant afford to strike. While this didn’t k–l it, this is slowly destroying the union, like they wanted, it’s a sad sight to see but it will continue until all unions disappear. History will once again repeat itself later when our children’s children will get tired of working 80hr weeks and are paying thousands for healthcare and decide to reform a union. People don’t realize that most of the things you have in a workplace were most likely fought for by a union at some point in history, and it is a sad time that people give unions a bad name. Unions were made to stop the blatant corruption by CEOs and to give the little man/woman a voice.
"I say take it and pray we get sold! We are doomed if we stay with CTL. Nobody wants to stay here either. "
Once we give up any control we will never get it back, do not take it if we get bought we may not have any care because it is in the contract, Enjoy Cobra they will say or something else.
Taking a contract in spite is the dumbest thing you can do since you won't see those raises anyway, they are offering more then we have got in 20 years consecutively for three years, you really think they are doing that and going to pay it out to the 8000 there?
It is garbage and this needs to go back. You dont save on premiums but lose on the back end. These raises are below the national average. They need to go back and do their jobs. Grow a pair!

I don't think it's cheaper. A family of 4 will save 100 .but you're deductible will go from 4k to 6.8k. So you save money if you don't use it.
The old Qwest CWA states
If you are talking about district 7 then yes. The numbers under the new healthcare plan (national) is based on 8,000 of us joining an existing pool of 26,000 people. The company and bargaining committee have said it will be cheaper if we were all combined together because there will be more of us on the plan to split the costs. If you look at the numbers the premiums will show this for 2020. What happens when we are sold or broken up as we suspect and those healthcare premiums skyrocket in 2121? We won’t be splitting the healthcare costs between 34,000 people like they would like you to believe. It will be more like 8,000 people or less which will increase our premiums dramatically. What we really need to know is the projected costs of the premiums under 8,000 people to get a true number.
