Do you get paid for vacation time if you leave and give notice?

The states where unused vacation must be paid in all cases are as follows: California, Illinois, Montana, Louisiana, Massachusetts, Nebraska, North Dakota (unless the employee quits and has been notified in advance that vacation won't be paid), and Rhode Island.

I’m in Illinois, they had to pay the 124 hours I was owed. At first they said they wouldn’t under any circumstance. I cited state law and informed them I would be filing a complaint with the IL dept of labor, check arrived in under a week.

Yes. You there is a formula that they go by though. I worked out a 13 day notice to help my supervisor. I had close to 100hrs of bacon time left. Got paid for 26.

I emailed and left a VM for my boss giving 17 days notice. He works from home and is often unresponsive for weeks. On my last day I was told by HR via email I wouldnt get my vacation time paid out and could never work at Windstream again. This after 20yrs with the company smh. Boss didnt make it into the office on my last day either.

If you provide notice in line with the policy your company has defined, i.e. 2 weeks or 1 month notice, you should be paid for any accrued vacation time. There should be an employee handbook that references this?
