I have an offer to join Qualcomm AI R&D. I am wondering if you guys have any inside intel regarding Qualcomm corporate R&D? Please please share your insights. I am 5 years of experience + CS PhD.

Qualcomm has a glass ceiling for software engineers and it's Senior Staff Engineer. You will not rise above this level as a software engineer.
The AI project pays good money for PhD. Take the job. At worst, and at best, it's a great jumping off place to AI startups in San Diego.
Ask yourself why would you do AI in Q? It doesn’t have the gene of a service provider like Google or Facebook, which is essential for the purpose of AI. But it’s fine if you just want to use the chance as stepping stone.
OP, Why did you seek job opinions about Qualcomm at layoff.com? Did you do the same about Apple at layoff.com as well?
Splitting hairs. Seriously. No you're uglier. No you're uglier. Who cares?
These are both just inanimate things a "company".
Instead, you pick what works for you.
Because both companies will continue to be what they are no matter your decision.
And you're decision only affects you.
The point is, if you join a company like QCOM or AAPL, you will need that perspective to not watse your time trying to worry about a particular company and their issues. And to focus on you.
Also, it doesn't matter which company you go to, you will have the same b.s. to deal with. So just pick the one you wanna deal with. The rest you cannot control.
