Thread regarding CenturyLink layoffs

Moral at it's lowest

Coworkers used to be friends/friendly. Now everyone hates each other. Work place is demoralizing. Everything worked better and we were more productive before the management made work life miserable and punitive. Customers hate us, co workers hate each other. SMH.

I agree with this comment “I think all these posts sum up the moral here at CTL”. And who got a raise? We haven’t seen one in over 3 years!

@2afa , interesting observation. Think that’s the impatience of the 21st century you are talking about. With all those innovations it brought, everything has to move fast. If it doesn’t, one just moves on to the next interesting thing. Young people are born into it, I’m not (gen X here), but I often “catch” my self doing that. Hell, I almost skipped your post, with all that quotes it looked too long for me to read. Glad I didn’t, though.

"I'm not denying there was a raise. It was small but it existed. The point is that what used to be a functioning group of people who could work together have turned into something from Lord of the flies. I didn't like every person that I worked with, but we were civil and worked together. I didn't wish ill on anybody, but this company has become rotten to the core. There are still some good people, but its a disheartening experience everyday to see those you thought were ok individuals turning into savages. The insanity has trickled down from the top and its really depressing. Nothing works, I try to hide my work logo when I'm in uniform out in the public because it never fails that a customer will see the logo and come over to chew me out about our sh–ty service. "

Maybe it's more about the character of those people, when times get tough shallow people will turn on each other where strong ones can lead and be the steading force thru the turmoil. One thing I find with the younger generation is there is almost no patience they want instant gratification and are quick to point fingers and take zero accountability for their part in something. Easier to quit and go someplace else then work through a problem or weather a storm.

This is not everyone of course but a large amount I have been engaged with.

I am not a manager I am tech who’s buddy got laid off and he did more work than 90% of the crew he is the guy everyone called on how to do something and would take your job now since you are so disgruntled and don’t want to be here go somewhere else see how green the grass is on the other side

"The raise was so low it didn't really matter. Its been that way for a long time. The sick feeling that I have most days at work is what gets me down. Everybody there from management down is miserable, petty, back stabbing. It used to not be that way. Wish I was old enough to just retire because I don't know that I can keep doing this. I used to like my job and the people I worked with. We worked hard and got things done, but still got along. "

Point is we got one so the so what was said was misinformation, was it a pittance and hardly noticeable yes, we are still behind the curve of others like us by 5 dollars or so an hour. But stop with the misinformation just to juice up conversations and add more anxiety to a already bad situation. You don't need to make stuff up, things are already stressful and bad as it is.

On the flip side of the coin, it's a beautiful world we live in, the greatest opportunity of life is to love one another, and that doesn't cost anything at all. I think I'm just going to do my job, thank God for all the opportunities I do have, and worry about all the other stuff later........or maybe never.

Moral is low, lots of talking behind each others backs. No raises in 4 years! Wonder why so many are just leaving. You just can’t meet their demands and have any life at all! Just because I’m salary doesn’t mean we should be worked to death.
Mr Storey is running things just like we new he would. High turnover, no trust. All with a million dollar smile.

I used to be able to at least get along with my SRO. That's out the window. My coworkers used to get along. Now they are all back stabbers who hate each other. Customers hate us. I hate even going in each day. Can't wait to retire or get a package offer. I can't take it anymore. I wish we would get spun off. Anyone would be better than the current leaders.

The company that never fired anyone is now drooling to get rid of people for any reason if you think the union can help dream on watch things are going to get real bumpy.

"We have an all hands call coming up. Let your voices be heard. "

You can't have your voice heard when calls are screened and selected by what fits their agenda, notice only a group of Managers in a closed room on most of these and they hand select questions there also.

Besides most of us are working and dealing with all the issues we would love to bring to their attention or on Hold...…………………..

They have a controlled environment with the intent to keep everything appearing great working and positive. Why I think so many are frustrated since we see a false representation presented and nobody asks the hard or controversial questions due to being shown the door immediately.
